As far as i know, the last GRAPHIC DRIVER for HD 4000 series(I, myself have ATI Radeon HD 4850, as you can see in my profile) is from July 2012!!! 12.6, is there a newer even unofficial driver for my card or is ATI just slacking.

True. I don't understand why though ! They claim 4000/3000 series cards have reached their peak performance and they need to focus on recent cards. I won't be surprised next year when they release 8000 series of cards they will drop the support of 5000 series. I think this is an unwise move as nvidia is still supporting their 6000 series of cards dated 2006 or so.
Anyway they promised 4000/3000 users will get a quarterly driver release, not that big of a problem is it?

Promised is one thing, and since when 6 months is a quarter? :bang:
Anyway are there any unofficial drivers released?

It's called making money/profits in the corporate world. They want you to keep buying the latest and greatest. Heck, my 6650m is almost legacy.

Unfortunately there isn't (I think). Some of the 4000 are strong performers and still do a fine job in recent games (4850, 4850x2, 4870, 4870x2, 4890).
I was looking to upgrade my card, my options were either the 660Ti and the HD7950 since they were around the same price, then I ended up getting an XBOX360 and a PS3 instead. I'm really glad I did, I'll wait until the release of next-gen consoles and buy a card that is on par with their performance.

it's a damned truth...i've had 2 5870 before...and i've thrown them away because for a year or more there where no any improvements but more bugs and more heat...so...

2 generations is the maximum for AMD tactics...when 8000 release you should no have anything older than 6000 series...

4000 series start to be really old, and whatever they will not forcibly benefit of any optimisation on new games. ( 4000 - 5000- 6000 -7000 series ) ... this dont mean AMD is not anymore think to them... try last drivers and tell us if you have any problem with them.. But at the same time, forget to see any optimisation in peformance ( you will not read in any read notes: the 4000 series performance in farcry 3 have been improved by 200%, like you will not read Nvidia have increase the performance in FarCry for GTX9000-88800 series the performance in farCry3 ) ..

Welcome to planned obsolescence where the difference between AMD and nVidia is the amount of available money to spend on supporting older hardware AMD can afford 2 maybe 3 generations of cards where as nVidia can afford to support 5 or 6 generations of cards

you should get an update soon to 12.9 or 12.10

Iam completely satisified with my overclocked GFX and CPU and Far Cry 3 on High Details, all i want is for AMD/ATI to care for its customers and give me some new drivers, and HD 4850 is still a very nice card to throw into basket.

just to be fair the 4000 series is getting quite older and may struggle performing on newer games with higher graphic demands. besides, you can get a better card than the 4000 series even on a budget.

It's unfortunate really, I had a 4870 and it was awesome until it died after the warranty expired. I still would've had it otherwise. Get nvidia the next time if this bothers you, they're still supporting the 8 series onwards.

Now now, lets not turn this into a porn thread :p.

I've tried to rationalize this move by AMD as much as I could but it's always the same outcome, marketing and money.

But in retrospect, we allow ourselves to take it up the ass by developers - but I have a fix for that: Don't buy their products, money is all these people understand, sever their income, they'll soon listen.

Actually, if you look at history, the executives will take a golden parachute and kill the company. If you don't buy it, they will pull the rip cord. They could care less, they got their money either way.

I'll rage if they do that. I only bought my 5970 a year ago and it still has better performance with new drivers cuz of optimization and stuff.
