I have the new 40 gig
Recently i filled the ipod up with 40 gig of songs
I then had a HD crash and lost them all.
Does anyone know how to get the songs from my IPOD back to my HD
I have been told it can be done.
But when my ipod shows up in my COMPUTER and i click it.
All i see is the little word type stuff that comes with the ipod like CONTACTS AND ADDRESS BOOK.
I dont see any music files at all.

try using ephpod and see if it has an option to copy the music off of the ipod

  5. You have to be able to see invisible files and folders. There's a folder in there which is filled with your music. They have strange file names but you while then have your music back. if you want nice file names, use ephpod which will write the ID3 tags to the filename.

You have to have it associate with iTunes and the computer you used to put them back on.

If you have a Mac as well, you can use 'iPod2Mac' to get your songs.....

Otherwise try this program for Windows

    http://www.kennettnet.co.uk/software/podutil.php

Should get the songs off for you, it's for 2000, XP
