I haven't seen any beta drivers in awhile, mostly just drivers relating to releases of games (honestly, from what i've seen i haven't seen much of a change in any of the drivers lately other then "game ready" but i don't pay much attention so there's that....)

Did they do away with beta drivers?

I guess all current drivers are beta so they stopped bothering to write this explicitly :p

Do you understand the world around you? What do you think nVidia's main goal is at the minute.

People need to realize that Windows 10 is out in a few months and big changes are coming to PC. I think AMD & nVidia are totally commited to DX12 and believe that most people will bite the bullet and jump onto Win10.

I myself have tried all the OS's and i always fell back to the good old trusted win 7 x64 Ultimate. Do you think i won't be jumping onto win10 as soon as it's stable. I won't want to change to 10 but because it seems win 7 won't get DX12 then i'll be forced to.

So of course nVidia haven't been throwing out beta's like usual, they are stuck with their heads 10 feet into lines of code for you to enjoy DX12.

Now think about it for a minute, they have been releasing DX12 ready cards for over a year but from what i've read they haven't been able until recently to even get their hand on the new API. So they are now in a hurry to get drivers ready for release of Win10 in late July.

^all of that was kind of pointless and doesn't actually answer the question.

NVidia has simply stopped slapping the "Beta" label on their drivers. WHQL takes time and costs money, so it's not feasible to get every driver certified. A lot of users have made it clear that they don't want to use "Beta" drivers, even if it means optimizations or bug fixes. So, NVidia has started calling them "Game Ready" drivers and appears to be aiming more at game releases since they're trying to prepare for Win10 and DX12.

They have to release Beta's. They can't just use the public at large without major testing first. It's just been slowing down recently because changes are coming soon.

A faulty driver released by nVidia can cause actual damage to GFX cards if it's not caught very quickly.

We'll be seeing a lot more of the "Beta" drivers once most of us have jumped over to Windows 10 before this year is out.

Most companies will be scrambling right now to get their shizzle in order for the arrival of the new OS.

Microsoft seemed to hold on to the API for way longer than the game companies thought.

So to answer the Question, yes of course there will be future Beta's, maybe not under that name tag but without WHQL certainly.

Yea was gonna say, just look at 5-6 topics/posts below this one, there's your Beta's right there.

Win10 and DX12 gettin all the love right now and do you blame them, poor old Win 7 is about to die a horrible death, well at least for most gamers anyway.

Exactly. It would be pointless spending large amount of effort on Windows 7 and even 8.1 now. It does not mean there won't be drivers for these, some of the changes for the Windows 10 driver will also apply to existing Windows 7 and 8.1 drivers, just their main focus has shifted.

This is fair enough too. Only those too stubborn and refuse to upgrade to Windows 10 will remain on Windows 7 and 8.1. It's not like previous releases where people had to pay for the OS, the upgrade to Windows 10 is free.

There will still be legacy type Windows 7 and 8.1 drivers in the future, but these will target more workstation type environments, and won't receive the same treatment for games as the Windows 10 drivers. People will complain about this, but in reality they are being unrealistic.

Betas are drivers released without a stamp from MS. It doesn't actually mean anything. They're probably busy with Windows 10 driver development and whatever else they have going on. I guess we'll see more frequent beta releases after Win 10 is available to the general public.

I always loved to play around with AMD's beta drivers (2011-2015) even thou they were all crap.
