Cheers for the heads up, just downloaded and installed and so far so good... Though I only use the AHCI and USB filter drivers as the rest are not relevant to my system...

If you're on a 7 series chipset don't use these. Use the AHCI driver from the 13.12 WHQLs instead.

Yeah it happens on Win7 for me too. Haven't ran Win8 yet so can't comment on that.

Basically, you install these on a 7 series chipset (under win7?) and Windows gets stuck at the loading screen and won't load.

Any AHCI driver above 14.4 or something has done this. The latest one that doesn't is 13.12 AHCI driver.

AMD Pulled the 14.1 WHQL from their website when they found out the built in AHCI driver was causing problems with 7 series southbridges. They haven't included an AHCI driver with their WHQL Display drivers ever since.

They forgot to stop people from being linked to 14.xx chipset drivers when searching under 7 series chipsets on their site though.

Don't the Catalyst packages contain chipset drivers? I know when I update my video driver, it always says the chipset ones are up to date and don't need anything. Of course I always install a newer driver over the top of the older one and I will only use WHQL versions. The only time I uninstall first is if I'm rolling back to an older version. I've never had any problems doing it that way.

AHCI Drivers didn't show up in catalyst install manager, only usb filters.
Installed fine via device manager (AMD Sata Controller).
    Windows 8.1

Just to let you know that I tested it and the problems with bluescreens, crashes and stuttering on windows 7 and windows 8/8.1 when using SB7xx. But everything is fine when using the SB8xx or SB9xx. Back to AHCI 13.12 whql no problems.
