    Nvidia 355.83 Developer Driver

    Hi

Once again on Nvidia Developer, there is a newer driver

    https://developer.nvidia.com/oculus-07-sdk-driver-support

    INFO:
Fixed a bug specific to older GPU’s with < 4 display heads.

Please test, give some info about branch and some feedback.

Maybe there are better than 355.80.

    cheers

I wonder if they'll release drivers for the BO3 beta.

So just to clarify but does the 355.83 driver contain all the fixes etc. from the 355.80 hotfix driver which I am currently using? Or is it a from different driver branch as the "developer" part would suggest?

I just wanna let you know that this was the first driver that actually gave me this custom resolution issue. Anytime I'd try to set one, nothing would happen. Rolling back drivers with DDU didn't work either. Nothing would work, so I decided to do a fresh windows install (win10).

This time, I decided to install the same driver again (355.83) just to be sure that that's the problem (and if it was I could just reinstall windows again before installing a bunch of programs) and guess what, it's working just fine!

I think that whenever you install nvidia drivers with win10, there's small chance that you'll get this custom resolution problem that some people are complaining about. That's why it's so random and people using the same set of drivers have custom res while others dont.

It could be a permissions issue or something like that which may be reset by a clean Windows install.

I have come across some peculiar access denied prompts when copying files to my personal folders which required me click OK on to grant administrator approval (I *am* the administrator!). For example, copying a JPG from my download folder to my Album Art sub-folder in Pictures brings up this prompt whereas it didn't on Windows 8.1. I even checked to see if I was the owner (I am) but I always prompted. UAC is turned off by the way (the slider is all the way to the bottom).

Then maybe (and just maybe) is a issue that registry values or some repositioned files don't get deleted and get mixed/bugged with newer driver ?
    Or/and DDU needs more check-and-delete "seekers" ?

The problem is still under investigation, a fix is expected in the end of the next month.

    Cyris,

As posted earlier, does this include the fixes released with the hotfix driver? Just want to make sure before I, we, upgrade.

Thanks for everything as always man.

Since its from the same driver branch as the hotfix driver it is very likely to contain all fixes which were included in it.

Developer drivers are usually on separate branches, so hard to tell if they used the same base as the latest WHQL or Hotfix driver or not, you can probably check it with a bit to bit comparison between driver files, since Nvidia's driver team most probably won't use their time to answer such a trivial question.
Even if you use the same main branch numbers they can still differ over time, depends on initial base and if changes from one has been merged to the other.

355.80 is the same as 355.60 btw. , just has an added SLI-fix.

Weirdest thing is happening with my custom res, I setup a custom res of 1440p at 120hz clicked ok and the screen flickered and resized so everything s good but the res didn't save in the list even tho i'm in 1440p it's not showing up, so then I figure screw it I switch back to native 1080p and enable all the DSR resolutions so my screen flickers again but guess what's shown up in my list as well as all the DSR Resolutions I now have my custom resolution, now I was always under the impression you could either use one or the other and custom resolutions disappear once you enable DSR at least thats what's always happened for me in the past.
