Thats a killer CPU score, heres what the 6800k does at the same mhz. http://www.3dmark.com/spy/419746
I had to return the Zotac gtx 1080 Amp edition because it has hitting 86c while gaming @ core 2012. I went to my local Microcenter and found a open box Amp Extream for only $12 dollars more, and guess what this bad boy hits 2100, plus the temps don't go over 58c under heavy load.....
Bummer it seems to runs at 2100 but heaven benchmark crashes, so I had to down clock the 1080 to 2075 the make the overclock stable.
That's what happens if you're too excited about a new toy, you tend to forget that finding a stable OC takes time. Hehe.
So does anybody with an EVGA version of the GTX 1080 have weird issues with the fan revving randomly? Even if I set it to stick at one specific speed such as 80%, the fan will rev from 3k to 6k for a second. It's the most infuriating noise and I can't figure out what causes it. It only happens when there's a load on the card like the power isn't consistent, but I've tried it with two different power supplies and it still happens. RMA'd the card and the second card does it just as badly.
Are you using the stock fan profile or a custom profile? Maybe try a custom profile using precision or Afterburner.
It happens on the default profile and a custom one. It seems like it will randomly double whatever RPM the fan is at when it's under load. So on the stock profile, the fan is slow enough that even doubling the fan is quiet enough that I can't hear it. But if I want to use a custom profile to keep it cool, it spins to a crazy RPM randomly.
So does anybody have an EVGA GTX 1080 ACX 3.0, but NOT the Super Clocked edition? Product #08G-P4-6181-KR. I need the bios so I can just continue RMAing it until I get one that works, but I didn't save my original bios and techpowerup only has the SC versions bios.
Add me too,I've got Zotac GTX 1080 AMP! Edition for now, that card is for testing as I'm still not decided if I keep that card or I will get Extreme version rather as next Thanks,Jura
Sounds like the fan is clipping the power wire below, check out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3lTGCzomZXs
It's definitely not the fan clipping. That would make a way different noise, plus I can see the fan speed on the tachometer reading in MSI Afterburner. I'm far from the only person with this issue if you look on the EVGA forums.
I've been searching around the interwebs, but I just can't find the answer I'm looking for. What is THE best 1080 card available now? The EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 FTW Gaming ACX 3.0 seems to be solid, but is it the best you can get?
Best is subjective... Best what? Best looks? Best thermals? Best performance? They are all very similar..
Best performance is what I'm looking for, with some overclocking capabilities. I understand that the bad chip problem was fixed with cards from the 30th september, so that shouldn't be a issue for me. Also noticed the EVGA comes as a hybrid with watercooling.
"The fix is something that should only be applied in-house at EVGA. I cannot divulge any information that could lead to attempted board level fixes that would void the warranty. I apologize for the limited information. As long as the card you purchase was shipped from our facility starting September 1st then this issue will not occur. EVGA's authorized retailers sell these units very quickly and the issue only effected a small number of units so the chances of getting a card with this issue is extremely low at this point." If I order one now, I shouldn't get any issues with the card.
