im having some trouble with HD dvd playback more then BR. I have tried windvd 9 and pwerdvd and they dont wont a bar of my HD DVD titles. I have a LG hd br combo drive. I need some help with working programs here.
There is no trial of WinDVD9 and PowerDVD with HD playback enabled. You actually have to buy the programs. Corel guarantees 30 days money back tough, if you don't like the product. There is however a trial of Arcsoft's Total Media Theatre: http://www.arcsoft.com/support/downloads/downloadnow.asp?downloadid=384
The new windvd and powerdvd versions are not supporting hd-dvd. I found powerdvd 7.3 the best for hd-dvd and also playrd blu-ray without problems.
I bought the SONY blue ray player for the computer. Put her in the rig. Found out I had to use PowerDVD 7.3 to run it first of all. Second I forgot about HDCP compatibility. Went out and picked up the 8800 GT provided by Point Of View. Sure is cheap now to get one. Agree with you about the inconsistency. While watching “Gone in 60 seconds” I wasn't impressed. After poking around, the blue ray player software isn't really up to snuff yet. An article said that PowerDvD is still throwing analog packets (something like that) into the video. While playing "Seven years in Tibet" the video consistency was there EXCEPT the stupid movie continuously FROZE, JERKED, SLIPPED half way through the movie. software? DRIVER? What should have taken 2 hours to watch took 4 hours, Deleted, Reloaded the software ... sent a nasty gram to PowerDvD... It worked again for 10 minutes... froze again... cussed. Delete, Reload.... Changed settings.. I knew it was too early to buy a blue ray for the RIG. The player costed 140, now I have to shell out 100 for the software?? should have just bought a PS3 :bang: Going to try loading the SUPER 177.41 PATCH. Hearing a lot of good things in forum about that patch.
DONT EVEN THINK ABOUT THE 177.41 DRIVERS. There is no HD and blueray is broken on it. I should know already tried them.
Thanks for the heads up on that one. Before I was using 165.25 which might have explained the GLITCH, SPIKE, SLIDE effect. Decided to just run with Nvidia's patch 175.19. http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvista_x86_175.19_whql.html Or maybe the last reload I did on PowerDvD fixed it. I was watching "Spiderman" last night and nothing to report except constant quality... Have to try "Seven Years in Tibet" the one who started all this mess to find out the truth ... Did it Fix .. or is it playing Ghost Fix ... Love the mystery! Could always be the disc, right?? Better not be as expensive as they are -- expect NO SKIP. -- Still don't like powerDvD though. Thinking about trying the 15 day free.trial with Arcsoftware... and checking some other rescources!! :wanker: Thanks again macdaddy, for early warning.
