Think about just dumping it into an aquarium?

Look into getting it set up into an aquarium first. Fll it up with mineral oil [google] and just stick the mobo and everything else in it [Oh, the CD/DVD/Blue Ray writer needs to be outside, pro-tip]

A lot safer, if you ask me.

Problem is the electronics circuit boards soak oil up and deform.

OP if there was some advantage to watercool 3dfx parts, it might be worthwhile.
Keep the parts safe, they'll be worth something and they arent easy to replace.
    Dont kill it.

mineral oil is one of the lest safest way to cool a pc

    watercool is safe
I know I done it before
my 3dfx system was watercool before (just not my v5.5k)

and any way is the v5.5k blocks were to leek for some resin the water would go down do to gravity
and not up on the card

    this is just for PurpleFish:stewpid:

I still use my 3dfx system a lot
    more then my gtx470/PII965 setup
on offense PurpleFish you did not know

They only gain value to "antique electronics collectors"....the actual value, deteriorates over time....

water? cant overclock them that far anyways cant you?? Unless you somehow overvolt the card? This would seem rather interesting.

Give us heads up on it.

Tell that to a guy with an Apple Lisa......current market value: $10,000+

    Or an Osborne 1....

Sure a 580 will be worthless as time passes but there's gonna come a time when a FX5950 Ultra or the industry changing 8800gt demands more than new price....

It's the remarkable things that increase in value like 3dfx...

Not so sure the FX5950 Ultra would ever be worth anything haha. The FX series was considered one of the biggest flops in nVidia's history.

But hell, I had the FX5950 Ultra back in the day when I was like 16 or something. I loved it anyway, and it played Far Cry like no one's business. I miss that dual-slotted beast...

    time will tell
    it's manly for e-peen
and I have sum water cooling parts that would go to wast

    still saving my spare penny's
    should take about two weeks
seeing that I'm not blowing all my spending cash on it

In directx applications, 9800xt stomps it by somehwhat,
it wasnt a true 8 pixel pipeline card, more like 4X2, the fx 5950.

on the other hand the 9800xt was.

Yeah exactly. I remember the ATI 9800 series being awesome back then. I was a real nVidia fanboy when I was younger so I never bought an ATI card regardless. I still have never bought an ATI/AMD card... but thats because nVidia has made better performing cards than them pretty consistently for the past 5 years.
