S3 really does sux ha ha
Ahhhh I remember when I got my Diamon Stealth III S540 card. Card sucked in everything except one game...Aliens vs. Predator. I could run that game at 1600x1200 @ 32 bit color without a single slowdown on my old 400 MHz Celeron! To this day I don't know why it worked so well....

My Rig:
http://www.tweakers.com.au/pcdb/viewall.asp?pcid=201

mmmm i rember my S3 virge/dx 4mb pci, greatly, first 3d card i ever owned, Allowed me to run Jedi Knight @ a stunning Screen res of 400*30016bit @ 30fps on a cyrix PR 200 and 48mb of EDO sdram haha no transpencys or alpha channels that card supported, so a texture that was supposed to be see though would be soild like glass heh, soon got a Voodoo banshee about 6months later. World of diffrence! but still the virge was a nice card never really had any probs with it...... sits in one of my drawers now, wonder what type of 3dmark score it would get oughta try, the card ceartinly won't be CPU limited on a P4 @ 2.4ghz  wonder if it would even run it heh
