I'm surprised that just 1 port can't handle higher resolutions, but I guess it's the DP specification that is to blame because I'm pretty sure 4K resolutions would not consume 10gb/s of bandwidth. Considering Apple is what used thunderbolt first, as well as the super-HD displays, I'm surprised they didn't work something out with intel to make the display connection handle more than 2k pixels. That being said, it gives me the impression that thunderbolt is already off to a relatively rough start.
