I am planning on buying this MSI RX 480 8GB http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814137023&ignorebbr=1 and discovered that my monitor only supports a VGA connector. My monitor is a FPD1520 and I need a way to get the VGA port to connect to the GPU. Thanks in advance for your help.
Happy New Year... There are converters for this (HDMI to VGA Adapter) ~ $5-$20 : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA3XT1DD0534&cm_re=vga_to_hdmi_cable-_-9SIA3XT1DD0534-_-Product http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA5HT2CA1653&cm_re=hdmi_to_vga-_-9SIA5HT2CA1653-_-Product http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA4UB3DH8970&cm_re=hdmi_to_vga-_-9SIA4UB3DH8970-_-Product NOTE: VGA is ANALOG and DVI & HDMI are DIGITAL. There are variations between the VGA and DVI/HDMI in Pixel Resolution. Noticeably in quality loss. ------------------------------- Check this link: http://www.diffen.com/difference/HDMI_vs_VGA
I was thinking that it's time to replace that monitor. 15" ancient LCD with no digital inputs.. makes baby Jesus cry.
HDMI and DP are purely digital. Only DVI-I passes an analog signal. DVI-D is purely digital. That means that any DVI-D / HDMI / DP to VGA adapter has to convert the respective digital signal (which are different between DVI-D / HDMI and DP) to VGA's analog signal. The first item, the cable, would not work (HDMI to VGA cable). The second item, the small dongle, might not be doing signal conversion (it's just a bunch of wires). The third item works as it converts the signal. I have one of these.
I need a vga adapter. What do i need The answer was in the question Sorry but that lost me there. The real question is why is he using this instead of getting a new monitor A monitor from like 2001 The cost of an adapter will buy a much better and newer used monitor...
