"All upcoming Crytek projects will consist exclusively of AAA free-to-play games, company CEO Cevat Yerli told Videogamer. This will take effect after the company's current projects--which include Crysis 3 and Homefront 2..."
A little ironic I feel. Especially when the DLC for Crysis 2 did not take off and was relatively expensive and no one plays online so its useless!

Micro transactions & booster packs must be very profitable for them to take such a drastic step. I guess they'll enter the mobile market soon?

This is a disturbing trend to be quite honest. I don't want free games where I end up spending $100 or more to get all the bits and pieces.

Crytek is saying everything everyone wants here:
But they will be **** on for saying free to play. Watch. Thread fills with people just going insane about how stupid it is to be free to play. Without reading the article at all.

I've known about Warface for a while now, reserved my user name and all.
Free2play done right can be amazing, one quick look at TF2 will tell you that.
But these games are never singleplayer, and obviously there will be a sizable portion of people buying their games like Crysis 3 that will simply buy and play it for the single player campaign. SO!- I'm wondering what that will mean for there future games like that (cough; Crysis 4) because obviously they are not going to give people a free ride on playing single player.
Maybe that means they are going to not make campaigns like that anymore, or maybe the single player will be a purchasable addon? I have no idea.
@TK, it says after Crysis 3

Usually in free to play games they become more polluted with in game purchases that tend to usually screw up the gameplay in some sort of way (you know like a powerful items and such)
Hence i am being a bit skeptical

I think it is all tied into their GFace strategy. I don't exactly know, how they will monetize it, but GFace is supposed to be the gamer's social network or something.
