My mobo supports up to 8Gb ddr2 800 and I have windows 7 64. I decided to upgrade ram from 4x1gb so I bought 4 identical modules of 2gb. Bios recognizes 8Gb. When launching windows the system ask me to use my windows disc to repair the installation due to hardware changes. I've used it but it freezes before I can reach the repairing options. If I skip the repair, system reboots after windows logo appears. I've tests every module in every socket and all of them works properly by its own but when using them togheter the maximun I can put that makes windows boot are just 6gb. Bios is update and everything related to ram is set to auto. I've seen on the Internet that this is a common issue but I've found no fixes.
Has anybody a solution for this?
    Thanks a lot in advance!!

    Does each dual channel work?
Try setting ram in 1st and 3rd port. After switch to 2nd and 4th. See if each combination works.

Read your motherboard manual to make sure position of dual channel ports.

What memory did you initially have, and what exactly did you replace it with? You might need to bump the voltage a little to get those new sticks to work. It's also worth testing each new stick by itself to ensure none of them are faulty.

I've test each combination and both work properly, positions are the ones you've said.

I used to have 4 sticks, 2 of them identical https://www.amazon.com/MICRON-MT8HTF12864AY-667E1-DESKTOP-PC5300-128MX64/dp/B011PIBYRS. The other two are similiar but no equal.
This is one http://www.kingston.com/datasheets/KHX6400D2B1_1G.pdf, and this is the other http://www.kingston.com/datasheets/KHX6400D2_1G.pdf
The ones I bought are these https://www.amazon.com/Memory-M378T5663EH3-CF7-GB-DIMM-240-PIN/dp/B001FEKQRM
I've also tested each stick alone and all of them run perfectly.

I've done it, now 8Gb working on Win7. Just switched clock frequency from auto to ddr-800 and dual-channel from auto to ganged mode and voila, four sticks working.
Thank you guys for your answers
    Cheers!
