I had a reply from the eDimensional Support team today, confirming that new updated drivers for E-D glasses in conjunction with ATI cards will be available in a few days time(last week of September/first week of October). This should greatly enhance the number of games/sims which they can be used with -such as FS-2004 and other Direct-X 9 dependent items.
nice post can you keep me updated because had lot of troubles with the latest drivers is there better support for ut2003 ? Regards,
ATI code I'm not sure exactly what the new code will cover. I had complained that I couldn't get most of my flight sims to run in 3D with the existing (albeit fairly new) ATI drivers. According to the reply, they have written new 3D code to allow FS2004 to run with ATI cards , and imply that it will also enhance most of other new games. Hopefully we'll see in the next few days. I must say that although the 3D is even better than I had hoped when it can be made to work, I'm a little disappointed at the number of programs which don't seem to run with ATI cards at present. I feel that this is not really made clear in the eDimensional adverts.
I am not as concerned as getting more games to work with Ati cards as I am gettnig a good 3d effect. The 2 games that I got to work (Freelancer and Unreal 2) was so grainy I HAD to enabled AA to smooth it out. And then it didn't even give the 3d feel that NVIDIA cards do. I will admit that Ati 3d is a lot easier on the eyes than NVIDIAs but it just isn't as dramatic either. Here's to holding out hope!
Any news on this? We are over the first week of october... I'm in a dilemma so whether I should buy an FX5600(/U), or an R9600(/Pro)...
No news, I'm afraid! The eDimensional team have produced some updated ATI drivers a couple of weeks ago, but they seem to have encountered problems in developing the DX-9 compatibility, so in terms of functionality there's not much change at present. My suggestion would be to email them, and ask for a projected date for the ATI DX-9 compatible drivers. if they can't give a firm reply, then go for a R9600.
Go the Nvidia route As much as I like my ATI cards, there has just been no working drivers for 3D goggles. They claim things work, but generally 3D with ATI is just a hassle. Especially when you can nearly fire up an nVidia card, and get 3D working in a jiffy. I keep praying for ATI cards to come into their own with 3D, but we have to be realistic too. 3D rocks with Nvidia, plain and simple.-Bios
