I would assume it's to keep power usage down, from what we've seen of the Wii U it's in a small little package.

I know that it wouldn't be as fast, but I would sooner or later like to see an ARM cpu inside a console, that would bring down power usage and heat!

ARM basically replaces PPC on the market, and given how current consoles are PPC to begin with, its kind of hard to argue a change on that front. Unless you go with an Android based OS, but if you recall, Sony tried that already...
