crysis 3 particle effects were fantastic, especially the red alien stuff.
that's why in bf4 I go with flares, cause I dig the particle effects :D

    Really impressive demonstration!
Particularly liked the way in which the bushes also moved in the direction of the wind as well.
That background looks so damn natural!

Needs more realism, something putting off that much smoke would fill the area up with hanging smoke in the air and cover everything, not just disappear after a few meters

Obviously you don't want the entire map engulfed in smoke so you are blind, but at least a moderate amount, it's the little things like that that make the difference between realistic and unrealistic effects

Looks pretty good. I love good smoke, but fire... What about fire? Hardly any game does fire well, I wish someone would develop a decent fire app.

impressive they I curious what the specs of that pc is cause I see obviously drops in the framerate when lighting/effect change rather dramatic drops too seeing it locked at 30

Yeah, when they cut the smoke off it kind of just disappears at a certain point away from the creation point. Doesn't look real at all. It should definitely take more distance/time for it to dissipate.

Wasn't the purpose of this video to see the effect of the lighting on the smoke? 'Normal Mapped' smoke had more depth and shadowing to it when it was lit in comparison to the 'Particle Smoke'. I don't think it was focusing on the other realistic or unrealistic attributes of the smoke. I don't know loads about this, but that was the impression I got.
