I have recently ordered new parts for a new build and was wondering what you guys think of it. Video Card: ATi 7970 3GB CPU: AMD FX-8350 BE 16mb 4ghz MOBO: SABERTOOTH 990FX R2.0 Hard Drives: 256Gb Intel 520 SSD OS and Programs / 2TB WD Black Games/Storage PSU: Corsair 750W Gold Modual Network Card: NETGEAR GA311 1gbit Router: WNDR4500 for my 100/8 connection Keyboard: Microsoft Wired 600 Just like the fell. Mouse: Logitech G400 OS: Windows 7 Don't like 8 much :S Cooler: Cooler Master EVO 212 Direct Pipe Touch Thermal Paiste: Arctic Silver five Case: HAF 942 Monitor: Managed to find a Samsung S27A950 Ram: Corsair 16GB Vengeance Well let me know .
Looks OK... GPU Which 7970 is that? CPU i7-3770K would've been more appropriate for that sort of budget, especially on 120hz. Your GPU will be bottlenecked in some games. Mobo expensive Drives I'm sure there are better bang for buck SSD's and hard drives available PSU Don't really see the point of a semi-passive high end PSU when you have a loud case(assuming AX750/760 and not HX750 V2) Network Why is there a separate networking card? KB/mouse OK. What about the mouse pad? OS OK Cooler D14 would be more appropriate on this budget Thermal paste unnecessary Case Decent Monitor Expensive, I'd have settled for 24" 120hz and emphasized graphics and CPU performance (e.g. 3770K + 670 SLI / 7950 CF OC'd) RAM If it's just for gaming, 16GB is overkill
If the main use is gaming, switch FX-8350 to i5 3570K. If you're planning to add a second 7970, 850W PSU would be recommended. Otherwise 550-650W would be enough.
If you have the budget to Intel don't look back, unless you want to save AMD. 3570K or 3770K(more than gaming) are the way to go. And then overclock to 4.5GHZ with this baby:
Looks good, but I agree with Pill on the mobo. If you're going single GPU, there is no reason to get a 990FX mobo. Get a good 970 chipset board, which is the same thing just with single GPU support. I'm not sure what your budget is, but you could save a few $$ by getting the FX-8320 and just overclocking it to 8350 specs (or higher). The 8350's will probably just clock a bit higher. Also, Arctic Silver 5 is no longer the top thermal paste. Get Arctic Cooling MX-2 instead
The psu I will get the 850wat gold with the mobo i am planning later on getting more cards so its a thing for down the track. And down at the computer store the cpu i'm using is new but does well in games its equivalent to a i7 3820 and for the price compared to the i7 its worth it. GPU is HD 7970 GHz Edition Sapphire Vapor X Quote I play games of my work pc all intel nvidia I just want a gaming pc for a decent price. But has good parts like mobo and psu. Mouse pad using my razer galiathus speed i have. AU: About 1.600$ for the lot that's a estimate depending on where I get it. Network card putting a pci card is can help with cpu load and stop the network from lagging while gaming also I want a decent network card to move files over my network.
if you have any plans in adding a second card, I would go the intel route. amd cpu`s are kinda weak in multi gpu
