I'm sure this is another evil Windows 8.1 issue...

I can ping my router, I can ping websites but no browsers (or other windows apps it seems) can get a net connection.

I have disabled my firewall, it doesn't help.

    Any ideas please?

Try a winsocket reset from cmd
    1. Start CMD as admin
    2. type 'netsh winsock reset' without ''
    3. Restart

Thanks but that didn't help. As predicted it was Windows **** ass****ing ****ing ***ing mother****ing son-of-a-**** **** 8.1

When I disabled Window's LLDP services attached to the network adaptor, it started working.

I presume it uses LLDP for it's home network client id stuff. I can live without it. God knows why it broke, probably will never find out....
