I have a Noctua NH-L9i mITX cooler, idling I get 40-41C(package) and 67C under load(Battlefield 4 is the only game that makes it go this high, other games max it at 62C). I tried Prime95(Blend) and it reached 85C when I just shut it down. Does Prime95 put an unrealistic load or something on the CPU? Also, I have a Maximus VII Hero, and it's all in an NZXT H440.
Well, when playing battlefield 4, my CPU is under 90% load. The guy above said that 28.5 puts unrealistic load... Ill try 26.6, since that's better for Haswell. At what temp should I start worrying for damage? My PC is on for 12 hours during the day, usually. I screwed it in at the back as much as it can go without destroying the threads...
your temps sound fine. my cores idle around 33C average and gaming hit around 65C. my current core temps and gpu temps:
i have a noctua d-14, and i run massive volts through the cpu, if your cores don't hit 70c gaming i wouldn't worry, if you feel the cooler isn't down tight enough you can mod it.
They max at 67C while gaming. I mean, prettier games gave me cooler temps, but Battlefield 4 yielded the hottest temp, 67C. Are there any more CPU intensive games out there that are heavier than BF4?
The Noctua NH-L9i mITX is more suited for htpc and low profile slim pc. your cpu is 84watt cpu which is higher then what that cooler can handle. from the site Caution: The NH-L9i is a highly-compact low-profile quiet cooler designed for use in small form factor cases and HTPC environments. While it provides first rate performance in its class, it is not suitable for overclocking and should be used with care on CPUs with more than 65W TDP (Thermal Design Power). Please consult our TDP guidelines to find out whether the NH-L9i is recommended for your CPU.
