14393 has dropped, most people think it's RTM, but nothing in writing yet

And then some on twitter saying 14395/6 could be it

I've installed it anyway

It makes sense to have the build as late as possible before 02 August. The necessity for RTM to be ready a fortnight beforehand is greatly diminished with Windows 10.

As I mentioned previously, version '1607' means yymm, not ddmm. By using yymm, they have version numbers up to December 2099 (9912), and you would always know what is the later version. If it were ddmm, then having it 1607 automatically precludes any day of the month before the 16.

In any case, I wouldn't fresh install until the final build or zero day patch is available to insiders. Even then, I would probably wait until the first build of RS2 insider, seeing as I plan to stick on the insider programme, to do a fresh install.

Insiders has only been running with 10, and 10s RTMs have always hit insiders around a fortnight earlier than public

Yep, that's been beaten to death already lol

I'm waiting for RTM confirmation before a clean install, that's why I did an upgrade instead, I'm quitting insiders for a good few months after this hits RTM I think, first few months releases are buggy with next to no visible changes anyway, and I need a break from grabbing ESDs, decrypting, upgrading, testing, then doing it again 2 days later

lssas.exe failed on resuming from sleep. lol. Hopefully that was just one off. Seen similar failures happen on older builds. RS1 is fast when resuming from sleep but prone to the odd issue. Once it failed to load iastorea.sys. I did 5 resumes from sleep for testing and they were just fine. There's a bucket_id attached to that bsod so MS has the data, I guess I shouldn't be surprised this early into 1607.

I have 5 UEFI systems that all show that screen when powered on....both of my legacy systems show BIOS info and then the Windows logo (without the little circle thing). The screenshot above is actually normal for a UEFI system to display at power on. That little circle thing is to indicate that the system is loading system level device drivers for UEFI compatible hardware. If you have fast boot (the UEFI feature, not the Windows one) enabled, you won't see that screen.

This is weird, I insert my old 360 controller and steam big picture detects it correctly as one xinput controller. If I plugin my xbox one controller it will detect two xinput controllers.

Any way I can disable this duplicate "controller" in steam? Happening only with RS1 builds.

edit: got wired mode to work ... wireless is still an issue.

I dont see the turn off option anymore but its works exactly the same for me. I think its an issue blow out of proportion and afaik programs like anti-beacon can still be used. Im using the newest build and everything seem the same to me lol.

^ got it, thanks, must prepare my system for it today just in case (backups).

Btw what are the main features / improvements of Redstone, is there a run-down to be read somewhere?

Ofc I expect 100 % more gaming performance but that's a given...

Good few sites with changes and improvements, not sure if there's an official MS blog about it yet, unless you trawl all the preview build release notes lol

^ love how that begins with "Windows 10 is the best Windows ever!"...

interesting, a new File Explorer and whatnot. Not too keen on integrated Skype though...
but I suppose it can be hidden / disabled, maybe.

You're reading a speculation of RS2 improvements lol.

Real improvements are with Edge (ie. extensions), pen input, cortana, store ui, tweaked start menu and action center design. dark theme for uwp stuff available throughout, etc. Nothing really special. If anything the current cu broke edge so bad I'm using IE 11 :-/ Steam's big picture mode isn't working reliably with an xbone controller and valve's working on it & MK9 crashes to a black screen Here's hoping the rollout will be better.

lol, didn't really read it, was just one of the first results that had a list of changes

Can't say I've noticed a new file explorer either, maybe not the best site to have linked to

Plenty others, or wait for tomorrow and no doubt MS will release a blog

Ok, guess the best information is seeing what happens when it's installed.

Is this similar to TH2 as in the previous version will no longer be updated after the threshold? Or can I keep using TH2 post-Redstone?

Well, obviously I can (by rolling back) but does that void me from updates?

TH2 will be updated with security updates for at least 8 months. You can go to group policy-> all users-> windows components -> windows update and defer windows upgrades by upto 8 months. Some say it is in addition to the 4 months you get in the settings screen under windows update and security but I'm not sure.

Aaaand that option is gone in RS1 ... *expletives*

VLSC RTM ISOs are 14393.0

SW_DVD5_Win_Pro_10_1607_32BIT_English_MLF_X21-07253.iso

Unless MS decide to integrate cumulatives into tomorrows release, we already have RTM

Well, we already have it anyway, just run WU once they arrive

LTSB is pretty much a sure thing too. The next time I'm forced to reinstall windows, I'm installing that.

btw check out the lack of defer upgrades in group policy.

EDIT: may be legit though. Think I'm just jealous my Technet subscription doesn't provide me with the latest MS software in advance anymore
