If someone of you wishes to extract dll's from different driver version...

Search in your Catalyst package for these files:

DirectX 9.0: atiumd64.dl_ , atiumdag.dl_
DirectX 10.0-11.2: aticfx32.dl_ , aticfx64.dl_ , atidxx32.dl_ , atidxx64.dl_
Mantle: mantle32.dl_ , mantle64.dl_ , mantleaxl32.dl_ , mantleaxl64.dl_
OpenGL: atig6txx.dl_ , atigktxx.dl_ , atio6axx.dl_ , atioglxx.dl_

...then, extract dll's using command prompt with: expand -r yourdllname.dl_

The rest you know...

Tnx to asder00, PrMinisterGR and vbs for giving us this idea and pointing things out on what we can do with these Kudos, from all of us!

I always have my own personal database with all the necessary D3D and OpenGL driver *.dlls from Catalyst 12.6 up to 15.4 and try all of them out out on every game I install. I thought everybody did it this way

Newer certainly isn't always better and I use many different versions for many different games. For example, Doom3 BFG consistently crashes at a certain spot with more recent OpenGL *.dlls, so I use old ones for that game. However, Rage really benefits from more recent OpenGL *.dlls (gets rid of the stutters when certain cinematic audio is played for the first time and allows for much faster texture caching massively reducing pop-in, probably driver improvements meant for Wolfenstein - The New Order but hey, they work for Rage too), but the latest couple of OpenGL drivers completely break v-sync in Rage, so I'm still on 14.6beta for that game.

Most U3-engine games still perform best on 13.12 on my card (with the exception of Deadpool - 13.4 all the way). I use 13.8 for Resident Evil Revelations 1 because of specific fixes for that game which AMD later forgot about. Resident Evil 6 just starts to stutter and has weird frame drops with every driver past 13.10 (even in the menu!), so I use 13.10 for that game. I always keep an eye out for load stutters, frame rates and graphical glitches, drivers can really affect those and often will.

It's a hassle for sure (finding out which drivers perform best with a specific game), but it's not a waste of effort.
Can you do me a huge favor? Collect what you wrote in this post (and more info if you have it), tell me which drivers I am missing from the repository, and the specific fixes per game that you know by heart.
I'll upload the extra dlls and also a handy little guide per game (giving you credit of course).

Well i did get a phone call from someone asking if i wanted to get solar panels installed shortly after i used these DLL files on Project Cars, so maybe they are malware .

Still, great thread, its so quick and easy to test games with different versions using this method.

The thread title looks ok to me, if you believe that a more catchy title is appropriate, please do so.

I'm uploading the 1038, 14.6 beta, 13.9, 13.4, 15.4 dlls now. I would like to upload the 13.8, but tell me which version.

Following the well know AMD politics they should send you an 295X2 as a gift for your time and effort solving in a part the AMD lack of support in W8.1!

Other people get it for an AMD bug report.

Totally up to you

There's some good guys at AMD, they are much more customer orientated than NVIDIA, who seem to just ignore everything reported, even quoted directly in posts on this forum, and still ignored

How do I get VSR support in Windows 10 when using DLLs?

Problem: I want to have official, driver signed, clean Windows 10 TP installation.

And then if need be, I'd just add particular driver DLL libraries in my game bin folder.
Therefore having benefits of new driver within a game, but maintaining pristine Windows installation.

My guess: Can't be done(?)
In order to get VSR support I would first have to to install one of VBS's custom drivers with VSR support.

Try asder00 modded driver versions.

I can't install VBS W10 1036 no matter what i tried in W10 but asder00 W10 1036 installed perfect without any problem.

It also includes VSR.

1038 asder00 version is out.

I believe that you can install any driver, try Wagnard's VSR Unlocker program, and then try using the dlls in the game folders.

I'm too busy/lazy/preoccupied for that, but I fully support the idea of making an online *.dll database, I think it's really useful.

I doubt my tips will be of any use for the current gen gamer, I'm still on an older card, on an older operating system, collecting older games that I still have to complete some day.

General advice, make sure Catalysts 13.4, 13.8b2, 13.10b2 and 13.12 are available, they're important for HD69xx users playing D3D games and contain some specific title fixes that got broken again later on. I see 13.4 and 13.12 already there and I just saw 13.8b2 getting uploaded, so that's good.

For Rage, either 14.6b, 14.7betas or 14.8, anything later breaks driver v-sync in that game for HD6950 users on Win764bit and it hasn't been fixed yet. I use the 13.1 dlls for Doom3 BFG, anything later crashes the game when trying to interface with certain systems at certain spots for HD6950 users on Win764bit. I never tried any driver later than 14.8 on Doom 3 BFG, it might have been fixed now but I doubt it.
