IF you do at some point if program needs it and let "windows" install it will be installed as "APP" and if you will have issues trying to remove it if you have too.

.net40 and all that installed as "APP" and and there for is not listed in programs and features cause i let windows do that and uninstall apps is royal pain in the ass.

For those that are interested! These are the runtimes for normal applications, not the 'Metro' style universal apps. That uses a separate runtime which is updated through the Windows Store.

Visual C++ Runtime Installer v38a!
--------------------------------------

Changes:
  • updated the C++ 2015 runtimes to 14.0.23506.0
  • updated F# to version 4.40.23413.0
  • updated C++ 2013 core files to REAL 12.0.30501.0

Even though the redist installer from Microsoft is labelled with version 12.0.30501.0, the actual files are 12.0.21005.1. I found the REAL (just emphasising the point that they're the real deal) 12.0.30501.0, but only with the core files msvcr120.dll and msvcp120.dll. This is perfectly fine, so enjoy . As always, if people find later C++ runtimes than are included in the installer, PM me.

I've also updated the Easy Ngen .NET Framework Runner. This can be used on Windows 7 and 8.1 (as long as a recent .NET Framework is installed), and of course Windows 10. In Windows 10, a separate command is also run for completeness.

See updated post information <here>. Links here have been updated to reflect the changes.

No, it runs ngentask runtimewide command and then ngen update for both 32 bit and 64 bit. It's more thorough than what you run.

Technically no. Ngen executequeueditems is not the same as Ngen update, hence the different command . Ngen executequeueditems does just that, it only processes items already in the queue for processing. This occurs in the background, it Ngen update processes all targets.

The queued items are done by Windows anyway and done fairly quickly after an update. The update command goes much further, it recreates images that have become invalidated.

Some more updates . Okay, so v38a (which I've reuploaded again after another minor change to the v38a that I didn't report on). Basically it's just changes to the .msi files, I missed a minor step.

The Easy Ngen runner has been updated also. The new version 4 has three menu options. The first option (new option) is the most thorough, ideal after install .NET Framework updates. This will recreate all images and not just those that were invalid. Option 2 is the same as menu item 1 in the version 3. It recreates only those images that have become invalid, including queued items. Option 3 executes just the queued items. This is the least useful of the options seeing as Windows will do these during idle processor time. The only advantage is that it will be done right away! Ideally though, you should always use option 2 over option 3. Option 3 is provided for completeness.

Default old runtimes, wont run winxp - 01-13-2016, 00:52 | posts: 3

1.problem-all the files in "old_runtimes" are even older than whats in my versions of winxp now
recommend-please update \old runtimes in "Visual C++ Runtime Installer v38a!" to newest versions
2.problem-doesnt work in xp cant right click run as administrator
recommend-please make version that works in windows xp
3.problem-what windows version does "Visual C++ Runtime Installer v38a!" support?
recommend-place separate installer "xx.cmd" for each type of windows, than i just pick right cmd(ie.winxp32bit.cmd,win1064bit.cmd)
thanks.

New official link. This link will change with each version (just the way things work)!
http://1drv.ms/1WCu8gc

Folder list view (will show the latest version you can download once new version comes out):
http://1drv.ms/1oVTfju

Had to change to Onedrive since Dropbox is causing hassles. I guess it's just so popular they decided to disable downloading from my account due to too much bandwidth use consistently! Taking into consideration to relatively small size of the installer compared to the size of files normally causing bandwidth blocks, it's pretty impressive

Anyways, hopefully Onedrive is a bit more forgiving, if not I'll move on to another like Google Drive...
