How does it compare to color profile keeper as far as compatibility is concerned?

it does everything cpk does, and then some. Yasa will sure expand on the technical side of things.

Mmm, compatibility is mostly a game thing. Both applications should work in the same scenarios and not work in the same scenarios as well.

I would be interested if that were not the case and you were to try it out and give me feedback. Would appreciate it!

Lawson (user a few posts above) mentioned that CPK made Metro Last Light crash but Color Sustainer didn't, so there may be a few extra differences in color profile loading I do not know about.

Games either override your color profile (by using the same function CPK, Color Sustainer, and 3rd-party ICC profile loader apps use: SetDeviceGammaRamp())
OR they completely ignore your color profile when in fullscreen mode (by calling the DXGI function SetGammaControl() which allows a fullscreen application to ignore the color profile loaded in Windows).

The sister thread is a bit late, it should cover how games deal with color profiles. Maybe I'll start it up today, hmm..

I see, I'll give a try then. I've only encountered issues with source games(-nogammaramp launch switch has to be used) and Stalker SoC as far as cpk is concerned.

I'm glad engines like ID Tech and Source include console / startup commands that can be set to disable their ignoring color profiles. Are you using an Nvidia cards and having no issues with other games?

v1.03 is done. Finito.

-Trying to associate a color profile that cannot be parsed results in logging "Failed to parse..." followed by "Associating color profile...". The (now null / random) gamma ramp then fails to load or be preserved.

-Color profiles now get closed after they are parsed (success / fail), instead of remaining open as long as Color Sustainer is running.

-Detect button shows for display mode and not for resolution when an inactive display is chosen

Changes:

-Log application launch

-Log success or failure for mode request changes

-Close to Tray instead of Minimize to Tray

-Tray icon now changes when started or stopped

-Added separate detect and delete options for monitors, resolutions, modes

New Feature:

-Tray Icon Display Modes: You can now add display modes to the tray icon, for quick switching between display modes straight from the tray. Right-click, hover over a monitor, and click on the display mode and the monitor should switch to that mode.

Will be up soon, hopefully

Peeps who have been using v1.02, you can move your Tree.txt file over to this version and it will update the Tree file on its own (to account for the new feature mentioned above).

Hey there. Upload your color profile to a file sharing host and link me to it via PM, I'll see what's up. Red means that it has failed to parse the color profile.

Meanwhile, try these out:

Just to see if they work or not.

Hmmm, interesting ICM profile format. Afraid I didn't factor in parsing for ICC profiles that are not v4.

Just wondering, did you produce this yourself with a colorimeter? Or you got it from someone else / the internet?

Will send you a build that can parse this I guess, but I'm curious to know.

Ahh, nice.
I made a temporary solution that worked with me (with your profile ofc).

We're going to use a 3rd-party profile loader to load the color profile, then grab the gamma ramp loaded into Windows with a small applet I made just now.

Download ArgyllCMS.

Extract ArgyllCMS, you'll find an executable named "dispwin" in there. Navigate, using cmd, to the bin folder containing this executable (for example: "cd C:\Argyll_V1.6.3\bin\"), then type dispwin [directory of profile]. The profile will be loaded.

There's a point in using a 3rd-party loader over Windows, particularly seeing you have an AMD card. This explains it.

Then, download the small applet here.

Note that this might work only with Color Sustainer. I dump all the information that Color Sustainer does not read from the ICM profile and focus only on the 3x256 matrix that contains the RGB value mappings grabbed in the gamma ramp.

Run the applet, and a file "Profile.icm" should be generated. Load that into Color Sustainer and it should work (for any profile out there that dispwin can read - all of them?).

Tell me how it goes, and you're welcome!

Sounds like an great app one question does it support both Nvidia and AMD gpu's??
Will definitely download to try it out.
Hopefully this will be the perfect tool to create custom color profiles based on different resolutions too.
Because i use a 32 inch 1080p lcd tv as my monitor and only by selecting the native res (1080p) or (720p) i get great vibrant colors as they should be.
Selecting any other res other than the above i mentioned the colors are all washed out,and look terrible.
