With so many development in monitors we just had to wonder, why didn't we have a monitor section in the first place ?

You can now use this forum section to discuss monitor related matters.

Nice, I hope this subforum stays busy. I'm sure it will though, with a movement towards 1440p gaming, ips/pls/lightboost monitors, Gsync, Freesync etc. Nice to have it all consolidated in one place.

Ok since we are on the sub-forum. Can anyone recommend a good color calibration program/software for my LCD (Samsung Syncmaster SA550)? I already have the drivers installed and everything.

You can use the Windows built in one or you can mess with gamma, colors etc in drivers. Then check your results here http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/

You'll need a hardware colorimeter to calibrate properly. Or you can try various profiles that you'll find on tftcentral etc. These are hardware calibrated.

Necro but since it's a sticky i decided it's better to post here than make another thread.

Anyone have any info on the upcoming Asus or Acer 4k HDR gsync monitors? Like release date and pricing? Can't remember where i read but salty sources were saying it's gonna cost either 999$ or 1200$ or something in the 1500$ range. Nothing concrete.

Or if you know of any other upcoming gsync/freesync(might switch to amd if vega+ is performing)HDR and 2k+ res, please share.

Might not go for a 4k since i'm not sure if i am willing to upgrade every year to a xx80/xx80ti card, but 2k at least for sure.

I just recently picked up a ViewSonic FreeSync monitor. Not really impressed with FreeSync so far. Love the monitor though, even with it's light bleed....lol
