Just a quick heads up with Project P6811. According to Fah addict the massive size of the project will stress the gpu harder then before. There have been already reports of stable fermi cards overheating. So make sure you got plenty of cooling.

yep ive had that one on both at it hop normal on the 460 @850 100% fan was 55c and the 6811 got up to 70c

but a good think with them is because they use so little cpu power i can run smp 12

Network Upgrades:

During Stanford's Winter Closure (December 18 through January 2), IT Services plans to schedule a network backbone maintenance window every morning from 4:00 a.m.- 8:00 a.m. to implement improvements in the network, as we did last year. In most cases, the changes should not affect the connectivity of departmental or home networks. In cases where they might, any interruption in service should be under 5 minutes.

While Folding@home will be up for this period, there may be brief (~5 min) network interruptions for network traffic from/to off-campus during the daily maintenance windows of 4:00 to 8:00 am pacific time. The upshot is that the campus should get improved network performance after the upgrades.

Still no news on a proper GPU3 client for AMD/ATI cards still makes me think nVidia payed F@H to have the client work for them first just so they could thumb their collective noses at us AMD/ATI users

is there really that big a difference between CUDA and STREAM when it comes to programing for OpenCL or did AMD/ATI just drop the ball big time with providing support to the F@H team

FYI the first GPU Client was exclusively for ATI GPUs. The second GPU Client was for Nvidia/ATI/AMD. The current GPU3 BETA Client works for nearily all Nvidia GPUs and it does support ATI/AMD GPUs but the issue is that the FahCore_11 for ATI/AMD isn't optimized. I highly doubt that Standford will be accepting money to skew their development plans.

FYI - Looks like some, but not all, of us are having trouble with stat updates. In my case, no work units have been registered in the native F@H stats nor the 3rd-party EOC stats for over 8 hours. I know that my GPU3 client has completed and returned four P6806 work units during that time.
