Default Benchmarking Guides and Tweaks - IS YOUR SCORE BAD ? - 06-19-2002, 15:45 | posts: 6,827 | Location: UK

Dear Users, overclockers and newbies,
please have a read over the following links before posting a question. These links will help you to understand benchmarking and the tasks involved in gaining the best mark for your PC.

Most questions can be answered in this way.
e.g. Is my 3dmark score any good ?
e.g. Why is this benchmark so slow ?
e.g. My Benchmark wont allow me to do xxxxx ?

Please only post benchmarking questions here. There are other sections of this forum for hardware problems, nVidia, Matrox, ATi, and driver issues or questions. You will recieve greater quality answers by directing your questons properly.

Greater your understanding, and save other peoples time by having a quick read.
Thank you

Ant

For both Q3 v1.31 and all versions of RTCW, there are not any built in demos. If you have an older version (or copy of one) of Quake3, Q3Bench will add in the built in demos.

I'm trying something different in this version (for both games) that I may take out --- Every time there is a resolution change and video_restart, a single "trash" timedemo is run. I was thinking this could help stabalize the results as sometimes the first timedemo after a res change and vid restart drop a couple of FPS. I'm going to play with it and think about taking it out later. Right now with a "normal" full benchmark run (5 resolutions at normal, high, and max settings), 15 extra demos will be played just as a buffer. This adds a whole lot of time. Of course, you can just go watch some TV and come back in an hour to generate the results.

Blah Blah - have fun!

(feedback very welcom - still working on it)

PS - There is a dedicated Q3Bench forum now for questions/comments etc. It's under the affiliates section here.
Ask away in the dedicated section

Removing post as a sticky... too many dead links, old information etc.

PM me / other section mods if you want this sticky or can provide some more uptodate info similar
