Changed ISP, with TalkTalk now

Seems around the same as when I had BT 8mbit, although when downloading it actually seems slower so I'm not sure.

Because speedtest.net is not reliable at all, since the max for you is actually 7150kbit (thats if your on fast path too).

887KB/s would likely be the burst rate rather than the actual max you recieve sustainably.

Its all in megabits anyway, the most you can get is 7.15 megabits per second when on fast path (fast path is where your isp forces the dslam to drop interleaving making it both faster and more likely to get errors).

i dont think connection speed means crap when downloading from typical sites.

most of my downloads are 500kb's per second on average some go up almost 800kb's
and its a 6gig connection.

my problem was upload rate, max 8kilobytes per second( dialup speeds ) in old gaff( usually 6-7 ) ment e.g. clicking on screenshot thread here would lock out all web access, was a POS tbh

a good result would be simply showing some actual downloads and uploads from popular sites.

speed test sites are complete rubbish imo.
i test at over 5700kb's download speeds on all of them yet can never download from any popular website at over 900kb's....lucky if i'm over 600kb's .c'mon now, thats bull dookey

*edit. heres a download from nv..pretty typical speed for me on many sites.

now imagine what a new phone line outside all the way to the VRAD/C/O would do. i work for AT&T, trust me, phone lines kinda suck, most are 20 yrs old less you live in a new neghborhood. hard to truely max out your dsl's potential.

i know what you mean, but my last gaff had a new line in it and only allowed 8kilobytes upload no matter what i did( tried loads of stuff ).

Incidentally with this line i get 346kilobytes downloading a GTA4 HD vid from gamershell mainpage
