Default Intel dumps the ring bus for a bi-directional mesh. - 06-16-2017, 05:41 | posts: 97

Intel has apparently ditched their intra-chip ring bus for a new mesh topology for Skylake-X and Skylake-SP.

It sounds similar to the Knights Landing intra-chip fabric. I assume that Cascade Lake-SP, Knights Hill and other high core count CPUs will be using it.

Not sure if small chips will keep a ring bus or not.
