OK its now Online ! some news about RX 490!

AMD’s RX 490 gets listed on promotional page – shipping data points towards a Polaris dual GPU graphics card !

"It has been just a few weeks since the release of the RX 480 graphics card and we have already started hearing rumblings of a brand new GPU in the works by the name of the Radeon RX 490. Just a few days ago, AMD, on its website, accidentally listed the RX 490, a fact that was quickly spotted by a redditor and posted. Many were quick to disregard it as a typo but this type of error is something we have already seen in the past and some hints given to us by past leaks told us something else entirely.

The RX 490 will be AMD’s 4K ready flagship that will be taking on the GTX 1080 at a (probably) similar price point. It is going to be the crown jewel in AMD’s RX lineup. The existing Polaris based lineup currently maxes out at the Polaris 10 based RX 480 – which is roughly equivalent to the GTX 1060 in terms of graphical performance. According to AMD, Polaris 10 is the largest 14nm FinFET GPU available right now and that raises interesting questions what we can expect from the RX 490."

The RX 490 is a dual GPU? or Big Polaris?

Hawaii boards for were named C6XXXX, Tonga boards C7XXXX and Fiji boards C8XXXX. In fact, if we are being specific about it than the exact code names were:

# Hawaii XT had the C67101 code name.
# Tonga had the C76501 code name.
# Fiji XT had the C88001 code name.

By the same logic, Polaris boards should have the C9XXXX nomenclature, and this is something we have already seen before. The Baffin XT GPU listed on Zauba had the C98101 code name, which is clearly a Polaris die. Apart from this we spotted a total of two more variants on Zauba which are probably also Polaris GPUs. Keep in mind that the INR value given to these dies is just the insurance value (and does not depict the expected MSRP of the same).
Unraveling the mystery of the RX 490 – the “C99” Polaris test board

To tackle this particular topic, I will be referencing some of the shipping data from Zauba we have covered in the past. We saw four distinct Polaris board variants by the names of C91, C92, C94, C98 and C99. So far, we have been able to account for 4 out of the 5 sightings. The insurance value of these particular pieces was in ascending order with a very very large difference between C98 and the C99 counterparts. Here is what was explicitly stated on one of the shipping manifests: the Baffin XT GPU (aka Polaris 10) was the C98 variant.

In fact both C94 and C98 boards represent iterations of the RX 480 (namely 4GB and 8GB). This automatically means that the C91 and C92 variants correspond to the Polaris 11 GPU (and the low insurance value gives strong weightage to this rationalization). Please note that the PCB (which was tested separately this time for reasons unknown) for the RX 480 was code named ‘D00’ and this is the number you will find on any RX 480 if you care to look at the code near the PCI-E fingers.

That only leaves the C99 variant not accounted for. Here is where things get really interesting. The C99 variant is roughly double the value of the last GPU: the C94 (aka Pol 10) variant. INR does not correspond directly to MSRP, but usually has a high correlation with the GPU’s performance or features. In this case, it would seem that the C99 test board was at least two times as valuable as a C94 test board. Here is another fact. The INR value of the test board is roughly about the same (INR 125350) as the Gemini test board (Radeon Pro Duo). Finally the nomenclature C99 indicates that the GPU is of the Polaris family (remember, the first number after the letter C represents the architectural generation.) but roughly twice the power of the RX 480.

THX to WTTFC and other sites for some add. insight
(But this is not over Yet ! and some of this you already know from my earlier Leaks )

We have now 1st: C.99301 Board
and 2nd: C.99398 Board
and soon will be some new Leaks for C.98 Board
So maby there will be some Dual Polaris GPU ;-) along with some Biger one chips.
Now we need to wait for some more news/leaks

Mighty RX 490? BIG Polaris or Small Vega? GDDR5x or HBM_1? or maby HBM_2?

After AMD Polaris portfolio is more or less, attention of interested parties on real high-end performance users shaft straightens then certainly partly again in the direction of the subsequent Vega chips . The initial purpose was to make 10 Vega, perhaps even this year. For this purpose, there are now two new indications, although both are rather indirect and thus no collateral can be given. First, the reported PC Games Hardware already last week of a on a AMD website casually listed "Radeon RX 490" (now deleted there again) . Interestingly, this attribution was presented in a games bundle overview page, which was set up terminlich on 31 December 2016 - and sets so close that those Radeon RX 490 ergo previously should still appear. According to AMD's new naming scheme , this can be an Polaris-based solution.

It should be noted that the Polaris lineup could contain parts both with and without an HBM interface (edit: GDDR5X is also a possibility according to AMD).
This makes sense considering High Bandwidth Memory adds significantly to any BOM cost so integrating it into mid-range or lower-end GPUs may not be financially possible."

=============================================

According to my source, next GPU will be in ~300USD/€ Price range ! This will Pack at last 2 GPU variants !
Polaris RX 480 is in ~200USD/€ Price range ! and of course it will Pack at last 2-3 GPU variants !

So we will have until Q2 2017 this:

[Here Performance predictions]

VEGA HBM_2 ~599USD/€ [CF going by by, like Kansas in MatriX]
RX 490 ~359USD/€ [ ~30-50% above Fury Performance, AIB's also included]
RX 480 8GB ~269USD/€ [AIB's ~390X/Nano]
RX 470 ~189USD/€ [reference above R9 280X]
Now updated with VAT ~20%

New Prices, and we don't look back

Update, Note

IMO we can't expect faster VEGA GPU's this Yas (year), more likely this one is 480 Bigger Brother and if ATI give him HBM - that will be a Monster !
Based on AMD/ATI last Vega milestone Celebration, so it is 99% Polaris GPU
And as i know some Cargo Specs this one will be ~300USD/€ GPU so Final Price should not exceed 399USD/€.
Planed for September or more likely October Release.

Aqua Computer Kryographics RX 480 WC !

The German-based liquid cooling specialist Aqua Computer has added the kryographics RX 480 cooling block to its portfolio.

The kryographics RX 480 is completely CNC manufactured. The production takes place in Aqua Computers own production facilities in Germany. The base is made of electrolytic copper with a thickness of 10mm.

A precise manufacturing allows using thermal grease not only for the GPU but also for the RAM. This ensures the best possible connection between the graphics card and cooler. For the voltage regulators a thermal pad is included in the scope of supply.

The area above the GPU features a jet plate that pushes water into two directions through a micro structure. A side channel routes water towards the VRMs.

Preinstalled nickel plated spacers allow for an easy and secure installation. All relevant contact surfaces are polished to gain a perfect heat transfer. The connection terminal is made of Delrin and can be replaced with kryoconnect adapter kits to connect several blocks with each other.

Shipping of the copper variant will start next week. In about two weeks the kryographics RX 480 will be also available as nickel plated variant.

Kryographics RX 480 Installation

Both versions can be already ordered in Aqua Computers webshop. The price of the kryographics RX 480 copper version is 99.90 Euro while the nickel plated version can be purchased for 114.90 Euro.

This is indeed better thread for this than the Radeon PRO thread.

I'm 100% sure that there's not going to be big Polaris (since Polaris 10 is the full chip). Rx 490 will either be dual Polaris 10 (which would suck) or cut or full Vega. There hasn't been any "big" Polaris in any AMD roadmap.

And the dual Polaris 10 GPU rumor seems to be just that a rumor and rooted in a typo on Sapphire's tech support page. Credit Fox for initially finding the original source.

@OnnA

I doubt any Polaris part will contain HBM that would be Vega. Polaris and Vega are both gen4 GCN so if you added HBM to say a GPU the size of Polaris 10 (which would be pointless) it would become Vega. The other way around is true as well.

As for now we have only not 100% accurate Leaks, but i ilke what i have so i will share.

Hmm the prices are no-VAT i will update this with Vat ones.

Big Polaris IMO is more possible than Vega in 2016, mark my word.
Of course i can't be 100% sure, but as time tells me -> My sources was 99% Accurate.

We need patience.

And we can discuss some of my early leaks, always nice to have Great Nerd Conversations in H/W Matter

Yeah Vega this year is unlikely. Thing is I was looking a the expected specs of big Vega (11?) and it looks to be a 9.5-10 Tflop card. That would only compete with 1080. AMD may have to push up Navi to complete with GP102, or do you think they will just conced enthusiasts level to Nvidia and focus on winning mid and high end?

Maby, maby not, we don't have much info about Big Vega yet.

To be accurate ATI is no more. It's RTG (Radeon Technologies Group) or AMD. I also happen to have extremely bad memories of ATI (Rage IIc to be specific; X1800 XT 256MB too, kinda) so I prefer to see that name gone for good. After all, this is a thread for upcoming cards, not for ancient ATI hardware.

ATI was a very recognizable brand. They differentiated itself with image quality, TV tuners, and great specs on paper.
But they got knocked out by Nvidia and saved by AMD for a ridiculous amount of money in ever-shrinking market.

So it's proly not the best brand to revive right now.

All fine and good but AMD does not have the luxury of competing with themselves only at the moment.

All I was doing is slotting potential GPU's into performance brackets and pointing out their direct competition.

These cards are replacing the 300 series cards not competing with them.
