I have Asus Radeon 7870 V2 and I want to buy new Asus MG279Q 144Hz IPS. But some people talk that 7870/270x & 7970/280X doesn't support 144Hz @ 2560x1440 over DP, is this true?!

Can't see the 7870 having the power to push 144 FPS @ 1440p

I doubt I could run at 144 fps @1440p, maybe with huge concessions to eye candy.

Pretty much impossible to even come near the 144 FPS mark. Maybe older games like Unreal Tournament 2004 and such (the game where 144Hz matters IMHO) but anything past 2009 will be almost impossible. DP does support that resolution and refresh rate. Depending on your card (DVI port) you should be able to use Dual-link DVI or DP, HDMI doesn't cut it bandwidth wise ;)

    What 144 FPS? :) I said 144Hz, can 7870 drive 1440p resolution @144Hz?

Well the 144 FPS that make it worth to even buy a 144Hz screen... If you're going to play games/movies at ~40 (23,97 or 60 for movies) FPS it makes literally 0 sense to buy a 144Hz screen :3eyes:

I'm buying monitor for next 7-8 years so it will be of use :) But for now I just want to know if 7870 support 2560x1400@144Hz? :) I like old games and they all run 200-400fps...

What do you want a 144Hz monitor for if you're not trying to run games at 144Hz?

    Buy a 60Hz screen instead

Your HD 7870 supports 1440p @144Hz. Being able to play games at 144 frames per second however.. is a different ball game.

Sorry for bumping this old thread. But did you get the 7870 to work with MG279Q @ 144hz.

I just got this monitor and it only goes upto 120hz with my GTX 760 :(

Yes I got it as soon as is came out for ~650€, but that thing is trouble. Yes Radeon 7870 works at 1440p @144Hz on Asus mg279q. Return your before it's too late...We were all at overclockers.uk with 99.99% of us ending up returning this mess of a monitor.

Some worked @120Hz(because of firmware)some like mine @144Hz, monitor had more than a few issues, beside that, and the panel died the same day! Oh yea the monitor had sticker "Q.C. passed" :)
We all paid premium price for a real mess. Asus screw this time really bad.
They tried to push competitive concept of a 144Hz monitor, but this is not yhe way!!

Had a(verbal)fight for 2 hours, they didn't wanna return my money...it was hell :( Finally won my money and that's about it.

    Good luck to you
