hi, so my hard drive crashed, on my HP Pavilion dv6-3103sa, so i got a new one installed, got windows 8.1 pro in it, i am getting a really hard time getting the display drivers for my laptop, as they are not available on HP's website with windws 8, My GRAPHICS: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 please any help will be appreciated, i have literally tried almost every driver i have seen from hp's site to amd, guru3d is my last hope right now!, thanks in advanced
These two are the last two drivers that will work on your card, neither of them work? (dunno if you're using 64bit or 32bit windows 8.1) http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop/legacy?product=legacy3&os=Windows 8.1 - 64
I haven't tried the catalyst software suit! But the Crimson edition beta doesn't work! It doesn't even show the display driver on the installer! So I'll try the catalyst software suit! Thanks for the reply!
I can't be sure but are you downloading the right version, 64 bit or 32 bit? Also there's a very good program made here that might be useful, it clears any existing AMD software from your laptop for a new install. http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=379505
I'm downloading for 64bit windows 8.1 catalyst software suite! And I have an amd Uninstaller I downloaded from their site, which does all the uninstallation processes! I will get back to you after trying it out! Thanks!
Apparently, both drivers are not working as they keep detecting 4200series, and dont install at the end! help!!! i cant just seem to get the Mobility 5470, or 5000series, i got a driver pack, manually installed the .inf files, that worked! but it keeps on detecting 4200Series, Screenshot attached! i just need more dedicated VRAM, my RAM is 6GB!
Do you see that lovely image you posted? Chip Type: ATI display adapter (0x9712) That stands for Mobility HD 4200. Mobility HD 5470 has dev.ID: 68E0 What GPUz says about adapter? There is little selection box at bottom (just in case, you have multiple adapters present).
don't 100% trust what windows says it is, run GPU-Z and post a screenshot of that https://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/SysInfo/GPU-Z/ Of course it might just be easier to put windows 7 back on your laptop if you knew that worked And I found two topics that seem to be what you're saying http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-System-and-Recovery/ATI-HD5470/td-p/4912981 http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebo...-does-not-work-Windows-10/td-p/5195885/page/2 Also what does device manager say? It should show two gpus like this. http://i.imgur.com/IrqKf3K.jpg
hi, turns out, my technician installed a different video card, while fixing my laptop! Thanks for your help!!!
