Best Xonar Dx Settings With Logi. 5.1 Speakers -

Been messing about with my settings, and just wondering whats best to use.
In the Main options, i have 6 Channels (although for games it says best to use 8, so should i use 8, or just leave set to 6 ?)
I have the sample rate at 192khz (seen about 44.1khz suggested, but no difference on 192khz (for me), so i just use that, or should i just set to 44.1hz), Analog Out set to 5.1 Speakers.
In the Effects, i use Soft Rock (as seems to sound the best out of them all)
FlexBass, i have on, with the LFE Crossover Freq. set to 80 HZ, and for the Speakers, i have those set to Small.
The Windows Sound Settings, i have set to :-
5.1 Surround, Centre, Sub woofer, and Side pair all ticked, Full Range Speakers unticked.
Have noticed, if i set the number of channels to 8 in the Xonar, the Windows Sound Setting, changes from 5.1 surround, to 7.1 surround (can change back to 5.1, and still have Xonar on 8 channels, but don't know if that makes any difference)
The Advanced Properties, i have set to 24 bit, 192000 khz (Studio Quality), matching the Xonars Sample Rate.
Exclusive Mode, unticked.
Any ideas, or does that sound ok (pardon the pun) ?
Btw, Speakers are Logitech X-530's.

Looks like what I would use for that system.
Question, do you notice any differences when you try various setting on the EQ?
IIRC, the XOnar will only apply effects such as EQ on lower sampling rates as 24/96 and 24/192 are kept clean with no effects.

Yeah i do notice differences, they make it sound like a weak radio, to bassy, muffled, tinny etc..., the Soft Rock sounds just right to me, so thats what i stuck on.
Thanks.
EDIT: noticed if i set the channels to 2 in the Xonar, then i don't get any effects like the EQ.

Just been doing some more digging around about settings, and someone with 5.1's, has said to set it to 8 channels for gaming (which is also what is suggested in the Xonar panel), so should i set 8, or should i just leave it set to 6, as ive noticed if i set to 8, then in the windows sound settings, i get 2x extra speakers showing up (the rears), but they are greyed out ? , and when clicking on them to sound test, i still get sound coming out of my sides.

I don't really see a point in setting it to 8 channels when your speakers are 5.1. Same goes for setting your sample rate to 192 KHz. Most games, music, youtube video's are sampled at 44.1 KHz. Upsampling to 192 KHz is not going to give you better sound quality. On the contrary, it may introduce artifacts in the sound, worsening fidelity. Also, some of your Xonar settings are unavailable with high sample rates as ROBSCIX stated.

I'll just leave it at 6 then, and drop the sample rate to 44.1khz.
Thanks.
