I do like Java but when it comes to HTML&CSS, that's where I'm really good at. I can do pretty much anything I want and in most cases really quickly. I'm not that good in JS yet but it's pretty straight forward and I have done some stuff with it.

Ya programming in JAVA is nice because stuff will work ON ANY OS. (Java and flash are basically universal)

Possibly Ruby. Its hard to say, Erlang has a special place in my heart alongside Scala, but Ruby seems to be the language that seems so easy.

C++ is the language I am best at. C# is a close second. Followed by python.

I am a self taught HTML and CSS guy. I became quite good with PHP is the last couple of years but I read that it might be on it's way out. Hoping to learn and master Ruby by next year.

Anybody here tried Codecademy to learn how to code?

C# through .NET. Nothing else comes close.

APL is fun though, in an insane type of way...

newer doesn't exactly mean better either, stick with what you know mostly (I think)

c++11 is the new c++. It replaces it. It is backwards compatible.

It's a great update too, includes memory management classes, move semantics, proper enums, for each loops, full multi threading support classes, auto keyword for type deduction, initializer lists, lambdas, nullptr keyword for null pointers ( instead of the #define NULL or 0), and much more.

    My favorite language is English.

What are we talking about? Programming languages?
In that case: HTML and CSS are not programming languages...

C++ is my native language of choice :) (and yes, C++11 is mostly preferred, where available)

HTML is Markup 'Language' and CSS is Style Sheet 'Language'.

    j/k.

Anyway, the most used language for me is C#.NET nowadays.

Script wise, been using Javascript with some js lib (dojo and jQuery) for a while.

I find Pascal and Modula 2 easiest to read at a later date.
Like when you find some old code thats not well documented and wonder what it does.
They are also dead simple to code in, almost like coding in English.

My favourite language to program in is machine code/assembler lol.
I only used it for specialised routines for obscurity or speed, but its the most fun.

Visual Basic is neat for knocking up quick tools in Windows.
It used to be slow, but PCs today are so quick it doesnt matter much.

For making small databases, MSAccess is ace and supports VB for great messingaroundiness.

C# (it was orgasm almost when I met LINQ) and PowerShell script. Pascal was good. Assembler was cool. Clipper was cool for DBs.
Loooong time ago were PL/1, Fortran and mainframe assembler. BTW latter is much more readable and understandable then Intel assembler.

Also I was impressed by TI DSPs assembler (and by DSP operations on the whole).
