Hello all, I have a little problem with my home cinema system. I'm using a lg bx580 3d blu ray player that is connected to the sony ht-ct500 soundbar with an hdmi cable and from the soundbar to my lg 42lw4500 3d tv, also with a hdmi cable and a toslink cable. Well the problem is that if i put a 3d blu ray movie in the blu ray player my tv doesn't switch to 3d option. if i connect the blu ray player to my 3d tv without the soundbar between it, it does work. Did i forgot something or is my setup connection wrong?
Its probably the cause. HDMI 1.3 devices wont pass the 3D handshake. You may be able to get it to work if you connect directly to the TV so that 3D is enabled. Quickly connect the soundbar in and hopefully it will remain in 3D mode. edit: Another method that might work is to use an HDMI 1.4a compliant HDMI splitter. This one appears to work http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B003WJ92NC/ref=mp_s_a_3?qid=1301790049&sr=8-3 It might still give you a problem if the Blu ray player decides to negotiate with the soundbar first, but you could always plug the soundbar in after the TV is in 3D mode.
Thx for the help mufflore, i think that should be the problem. Well in that case i'll try to swap it in 3D mode and if that doesn't work then i'm gonna see for a hdmi splitter.
yea its definitly the soundbar. this is why receivers specify 3d ready, i have not seen any 3d ready soundbar yet. you will have to connect the BD player directly to tv and then use toslink from bd player to soundbar.
^This is true. I forgot the soundbar will probably have a form of SPDIF* in, so you dont need to use HDMI to it. * SPDIF types: toslink = Optical digital Coax = Electrical digital
