Ti 4200 Fan Control Struggle

Need some help on this please. Struggling to tame the fan on some recycled hardware.

Running a Nvidia Ti 4200 AGP card on an ECS 741GX-M mainboard.
Win XP SP3 / Nvidia Drivers 97.41 (latest)

Tried setting AutoFanSpeedControl = 3 without luck.
The "Fan" tab is still not there. Can't find any good info on the specific card anymore, any help is very welcome!

Does coolbits work on that driver version? I don't remember when they stopped supporting it.

Thank you for your reply. I've tried the CoolBits registry patch, no change though to the Fan issue.

I've tried setting AutoFanSpeedControl to 1 and AFAIK 1=Display 3=FullAccess

 

What about Nvidia system tools?

edit: nevermind, it says it doesn't support older than the FX series.

 

Not all TI 4200 card had fan control capabilities. My Gainward GeForce 4 Ti 4200 128 MB AGP 8x GS didn't have fan controlling capability.

Agree it probably lacks the hardware to control the fan.

 

I dont remember my 2 ti 4600 having fan control. think they were $400 each back in the day.

 

That card was so good back in the day. I have my Ti4600 somewhere in which im planning on building an old XP PC for older titles .

 

I had a Ti 4200 then sold it for a 9800 Pro when BF2 came out.

 

Ca n grab a 6800 GT on eBay for about a tenner.

 

I still have mine somewhere. But it didn't have fan control either.

 

Most of those older cards didn't have fan speed control....
