Ok, I've briefly tested a couple of games. Most games indeed have better performance on 12.8. All games tested on max settings excluding AA (Sleeping dogs was set to normal, for Max Payne 3 I've used FXAA, Dirt 3 4xMSAA)

Sleeping Dogs during gameplay: no problems at all, no flickering and none of the issues mentioned in the 12.8 driver section.

Dirt 3: Runs perfectly well, also no flickering.

Witcher 2: Loading times similar to 12.4, didn't have time to test it properly but I've noticed it still has occasional black flickers. Also, I think that on 12.8 the game has poorer draw distance in certain locations (not sure, though, I haven't played it for a couple of days)

Tomb Raider Legend: Everything seems to be fine, no black flickering.

Skyrim: Also no flickers, I got a graphical glitch once but it doesn't seem to be driver-related, most likely an engine glitch.

Max Payne 3: no black flickering, seems to run flawlessly

Witcher 2 seems to be the only game affected by this issue. I've yet to test NFS:HP in which, AFAIK, I've also got slight flickering.

I am having the same problem! with Saphire HD 7850 OC and 12.8 WHQL, for me it does not happen anywhere but in Guild Wars 2... all other games are flawless, temps are always max 60 C. 3D Mark 11 flawless too...

Here is what mines look like: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/36...sue-guild-wars

I downloaded the 12.8 WHQL just before Guild Wars 2 head start on August 25, so I have yet to try 12.4 on Guild Wars 2, other games have always ran without issues with 12.4, 12.6 and now 12.8...

Really no idea what is going on

I get flashing red textures if the GPU is overclocked too much or if I don't raise the volts enough for the overclock.

It's most likely a problem with the game itself. My artifacts in Witcher are different and less pronounced. It's possible that the game doesn't like your setup or the drivers. Or it's buggy as hell Roll back to 12.4 and see if it helps, it did with Witcher 2 so maybe it'll work for you too. You can also try to run the game without the CPU boost.

I think I've done testing and I'll be back to 12.4 for a while as this quite negligible performance boost is not worth having issues with Witcher 2 which I currently play the most. Sleeping Dogs very often dips below 30 fps on either driver when I'm speeding through the city anyways. ****, my rig is weak as hell;p

Hi,

I've got one more question: does anybody here have any experience with overclocking the 7850? I'm looking for an app which would let me bypass the standard 1050 OC limit and enable voltage control? I've maxed the core clock slider to 1050 and the card runs stable @ stock voltage (I left the memory at 1200) so I wanted to push it a bit further, possibly 1100 or something and a slight memory overclock. MSI Afterburner 2.2.3 doesn't let me do this, when I enable unnoficial OC in the config file, the clocks reset to 0 and voltage control is still greyed out (even when I tick it in options). Is it safe to use Sapphire Trixx or other app (Asus GPU Tweak didn't run)?

Thanks, why on earth didn't I think of that? Now I only need to bypass the 1050 Mhz limit without Afterburner going bonkers on me
