hi all, i'm using RT 2.07 with my asus 8600Gt and i was very happy, all was perfect,OC very high and perfect fan control (driver-level control...no low-level control with my card). and yesterday..i was using 3dmark06 to test my OC's stability...my OC was good, but after that Core Temperture of my 8600 reach the 70° (and yesterday was the 1°time..) my fan began to decrease his speed (i saw this by OSD) from 100% (like it has to be after 60° in my settings!) to 35,8%...67,2%...29,8%....44,4%....like RANDOM!!!! i hope someone could help me because i like very much this App! PS. i set up my RT 2.07 like explained in derek's guide V2.07
That is absolutely normal for display adapters using driver-level fan control. Fan control on such hardware is handled by display driver, which is constantly monitoring the temperature and takes control over fan as soon as critical temperature is reached. There are no workarounds and there is nothing wrong with such behavior, these cards are designed to work this way.
Thank you for clarify my ideas... in fact in the last 3 hours i tried all the possible: uninstalling/reinstalling/power user/make more fan's profiles....nothing to do! all work perfect untill 70° are reached...after this the control of my fan is automatic (75% at 70°....85% at 80°....after i don't know i stopped the bench!)... i think i put 100% fan speed at RT startup and stop!
I've been having the same problem with an EVGA 8600 GT (512mb) card. My card hovers between 59-61C idle with the fan set to 60% speed. So playing any game puts it between 70-75C and I check it...fan is at 30% speed. No matter what I set it to, the fan defaults back to the speed the driver wants it to be at. Are these the average temps these cards run at? I haven't upgraded a video card since getting a GF FX5900, and it would idle around 42C and go no higher than around 58C after extensive gaming.
i think it's normal...my 8600gt when Temperature arrive to 70° has the fan at 30%,but if T. go to 80° fan is at 85% and so on...
