http://www.nokia.com/en_int/phones Great news for Nokia fans, as the Finnish company has just confirmed that HMD Global, the owner of the Nokia phones brand, will be launching the first Android smartphones next year. HMD also announced that it has completed the transaction between HMD, FIH Mobile Limited (a subsidiary of Hon Hai Precision Industries trading as Foxconn Technology Group) and Microsoft, so it can now begin operations as the new owner of the Nokia phones, under exclusive global brand license for the next 10 years. Furthermore, Nokia stated that HMD will continue to launch feature phones, alongside a new range of smartphone and tablets. All will be announced by HMD later on. Under the agreement, Nokia confirmed that HMD will pay royalties for sales of every Nokia branded mobile phone and tablet, covering both brand and intellectual property rights. * Picture is not an upcoming Nokia Phone Source: softpedia.com
Oh yeah. Used Nokia phones for a very long time and the N73 was my first smartphone. Would be nice to see them as a serious option again. Not being stuck with Windows is a good start lol.
Oh boy another company with their stupid phones.. specs are whatever and gut is all crap. 100% chance it will have same issues I have with my s..phone and every other android phone. Maybe its even worse, like MS phone worse..
Nokia isn't making the phones afaik, they're designing and putting their name on them but getting another company to manufacture them according to Thurrott and MJF
HMD Global Oy basically handles that. It's a Finnish company (lots of ex-Nokia people) that to my understanding does the design stuff, Foxconn does the manufacturing. Nokia will likely have at least something to do with the phones too.
And the opening sequence of the first Star Trek reboot is back on track! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xTGeagS4HcU
