    Hey peeps

I have the above CPU and although I don't seem to have any issues with games, it is now 4 around years old I think.

My Oculus Home says its below spec for the Occ but I don't seem to have any noticeable issues in games with framerate.
I haven't been able to OC it with any success, my mobo doesn't seem to like it for whatever reason.

So, could I stick would it for a bit longer or should I upgrade it and if so what platform/chipset should I go to?

    Thanks for any suggestions....

No, not at all. Wait for Kaby Lake and Zen later this year.

    No !.
Overclocking on X79 is a bit tricky specially if you have a quad channel memory configuration and a "parcially unlocked" processor.
Try upgrading your bios to the last version, that processor can clock to 4.2Ghz> really easily
