Many moons ago we have shared performance of this processor with you already, but over time benchmarks have been updated repositioning the processor. Now we know a lot of people have a hard time overc...

Best CPU out there. However, seeing that 78c Package temp at 4.7 is the reason why mine sits at around High 50's/Low 60's at 4.4.

    Great review..

Interesting to see that this processor even overclocked is slower in alot of tests then the 8350 (same price point).. Id love to see another review on that with a overclock of 5ghz if the boss has time, since there is threads blowing up as of late with people buying them. Maybe test it with higher clocked ram and the windows patch.. :) not saying one is better then the other but it would be cool to revisit it like ya did with this review.

Don't get your hopes up, most of the tests are multi-threaded hence AMDs 8-core processors can keep up as they can accumulate the results. Overall per core performance will dominate that 8350.

to Hilbert,Hi ,i know you already made a review on how to overclock the 3770k,but me i can do mine at 4.6 Ghz,but games crash after 4.5 Ghz,(BF3),crisis 3 open beta crash after 4.4 GHz,thats why i ask myself if there is something special to do,for the games be accepted around 4.5 Ghz,i bought a Noctua Nh-D14,to replace the Nh-U12P SE2(since you made the review on :"CPU cooler group test review with 3770K".

Not really, what you see in the review is what you get in terms of the BIOS settings. Sometimes it's just having that little extra luck processor and setup wise.

How much volts do you apply ?

Acually 4.4 GHz:1.250 v (Right now 1.255 v because in the DIGI+(i set many thing at Extrem, because up tu 4.4GHz no stability).
    before 4.6 GHz :1.305 v
i tried 4.7GHz :1.355v but nothing are stable.

You are going to need to try 1.4 Volts then ... but that is more of a bitch temp control wise.

Realistically 4.4 GHz versus ~1.250V remains a nice sweet-spot for your temps and power consumption. And the extra 200~300 MHz really isn't going to make that much of a difference in real-world usage experiences let alone GPU bound gaming.

thank you,i will try that in less than 1 hour,i was a little bit scared, because i read on many place ,that it's not good to go up to 1.380 v(but you are right i think the Maximus Formula V can handle that.

    i forgot,yes it's good 1.250v at 4.4 GHz,but in your review you can do 4.6 at 1.200 v,(for me it's impossible,on mine) but i also read all 3770 k are differents.

Well that and I'm very sure that Intel sends out the best binned low-leakage samples to us as well. So yeah, it remains a bit of a gamble.

Just make sure your temps remain up-to snuff. 1.4V is really pushing it with a D14.

    AIDA64 showing some crazy bandwidth/latency numbers.....impressive. I guess 2133 @CL9 helps a lot.

I was able to sit at 4.4Ghz at stock volts. However, I sit at 4.2Ghz just for power consumption and less stress (don't really need that extra 200Mhz).

    Outstanding article!
Mine does 4.8ghz without too much hastle, and at this speed scores over 8 points in CineBench, imo to get the best outta them yoiu need a nice mobo, like Asus ROG, Gigabyte ultra durable 5 etc.

Good review. Nice to see the 980X holding on :D. FX-8350 is pretty quick when you look at it.

    I love mine too.
I'm doing 4.6GHz@1.328 V with a really low temps (Cores at mid 60)
    LOVE IT.

Problem is said games are not threaded properly to leverage the power of the AMD with the new consoles coming out bases on this arctecture it will be interesting to see if the game gap shrinks.
