Better plug out that internet cable while you're at it.
But seriously, dafuq is this W10 privacy whining, it's not like things are any different on W7. If you want you can turn data collection etc off whenever you so desire despite on which OS version you're running on, might take a bit more twists and turns on W10 but yes, definitely doable.

I'm just straight up saying that if you are a part of any information network you are compromised by default. Thus it's rather funny to see people being so suddenly against Win10 information gathering. This at the very least is in your interest as it will help MS make the product better.

Not entirely true.

I also find it alarming that people such as yourself, seem to think it's perfectly acceptable for others to be privy to every aspect of your life on the basis "you've got nothing to hide!" -- I suspect you'll be one of the first to cry when you do have something to hide. When you give an inch you give a mile, a law or right which seems minor now may have far more drastic consequences down the line when you neglect it and allow it to be taken away.

What happens when your soft stance results in your government taking further privacy rights? Or results in them turning a blind eye to companies like MS? What happens when it results in changes in law so things which are currently considered legal no longer are? You can't live based on the assumption that it's fine if things are going your way, there will come a time when that's no longer the case and you'll wish you'd taken a tougher preventative stance.

A lot of people are forced to use the internet and smart devices to some extent. I know a hell of a lot of people who are required to use a company phone, which is almost always a smart phone. Almost anyone working in any kind of office now is expected to use computers and even the internet to some degree, the companies you deal with outside of work are becoming more and more internet focused. We're being left with little choice but to be connected, it isn't viable or right to expect people to become hermits if they're against invasive anti-privacy systems. Shouting people down who stand up or call out these practices is ridiculous, if you had any sense you'd be joining them.

It's not free, it doesn't cost money to upgrade. Haven't you heard userdata is our ages oil? Also you don't have the level of control as you have on 7/8. They even admitted now that they have disabled competing av's. I'm just glad they mostly ignore 7/8, guess they think a lot will jump onto 10 when security updates stop. I for one won't.

There is plenty to hide on most peoples PCs.
If you keep your PC clean of personal details then you are not the norm which is where the damage will be done.

Having the OS itself undermine your data protection is inexcusable.
It should be a major part of any protection strategy.

All this bickering about data gathering is just speculation because no one knows what exactly is collected.

Pointless statement.
They wont declare exactly what they do collect.
Are you saying it shouldnt be discussed or concerns raised?

You can discuss whatever you want. But without involving all sides it is waist of time, Imo. Not knowing details about collected info leads to generic talk.

No one is happy about collecting of private info, but there are people like you who is concerned enough to not use smartphone, and there are people who is not concerned enough.

And overall I see no point in repeating arguments - we now know each other`s views on the question.

It leads to rationalising what is happening.
If its not your thing, fair enough.
Jumping on a discussion you are not interested in is a bit odd.

Personal details is, for example, your name - do you hide it from everyone? This is definitely pointless discussion since most of anti-Win10 people simply don't know what they are talking about.
