Hi guys. I apologize that my post is too long and my English. First I want to explain why I need help from GURU'S from Toronto. 5 years ago I built my first rig and I got all help I needed here on Guru3D to choose the components. So I bought everything and ask my so-called friend to put it together. He charged me 500 dollars for it and he did not do a good job and I had to look for additional help elsewhere again. I think he charged too much. Now I would like you guys to recommend me the place I can use to build my new rig or if some GURU from Toronto can help me I will really appreciate it. I am not asking to do it for free. I will pay either cash or I can give my current components to you as payment plus cash. Motherboard ASUS RAMPAGE Xtreme II, CPU i7 920, Cooler Coolmaster V8. Now this is what I chose so far. I am grateful for any input and help. Thanks in advance.
Havent looked up your current case, but make sure it can fit that noctua, they are the best out there but tend to be pretty huge. As for the SSDs, the 850 is the newer model and probably the best SSD out there atm. The 840pro is a good choice either way, but the 850 has better performance and will last longer (google "850 3d nand" to find articles and vids explaining why it's good)
Well, first off, your friend charged you for doing that stuff? My friends help me with such things for free, or literally "for what it's worth" to me (letting me choose if and how much I give them). Don't really need help by now, but that's how it was back then about 12 years ago Now for your components, as for the mainboard, there's been the mentioning of problems with the Asus X99 Deluxe, iirc Veteran said so. Is there anything in particular that made you choose that board, or could you do with anything else? You should be fine with the CPU though, unless you really want to use 2x PCIe3.0 x16 lanes, which would most likely make sense with two really badass GPUs. With your single 780Ti there is no problem at all. The CPU cooler should be as good as it gets with air cooling, thanks for choosing an Austrian product But as Alex said, make sure it fits your case. I personally think the RAM should do well for gaming, but maybe other users already running their X99 platform / DDR4 setup could help you better there. With the SSDs, if you could afford it, I'd go with the 850pro. It's the newer one, and has about double the calculated write volume as an indicator for the SSDs lifetime. Might be worth to invest the money if you want to keep it until it breaks.
Thank you for quick replies guys. The guy who helped me was not really my friend. We used to work together and he knew more about computers than me at that time. Now I learned a lot but still not confident to build it on my own. I chose ASUS because I had ASUS but really I can use something else. Which one though? SSD I will go for 850pro. Thank you. Now the cooler. How can I know if it fits in my case? I want something good so can overclock a little.
Most likely you'll have to do some internet research. As far as I was able to spot, you shouldn't have a problem with any CPU cooler's hight up to 130mm, with a side fan that is. More than that would need you to remove the side fan, which could open up to 150mm probably. BUT please do check yourself, I'm too tired to do proper research now, sorry Well to my personal experience I've been okay with MSI boards. Or you could search the net for other ASUS boards fitting your desires and see how the reviews are. Maybe you should check with the Haswell-E Owner's Thread, here you can find some things on the X99 boards and how they do for other users here.
Thanks man. I may go with this board instead. I liked the review here on GURU3D. http://www.guru3d.com/articles-pages/msi-x99s-gaming-9-ac-motherboard-review.html I will see if NOCTUA has smaller coolers too. My main consern right now is to find a place where to put it together after I buy everything.
After looking at a picture of your case from Newegg. The CPU cooler you chose should fit without too much trouble I think.
