I bought a new PC (Windows 64-bit) and I've hooked it up to my old PC (Windows 7 32-bit). I have no previous experience with networking. I managed to get a network set up and enabled file sharing, enabled network discovery, disabled password protection, enabled sharing of hard drives on both PCs, etc.

However, when I try to access the hard drives from either PC I get the error:

You do not have permission to access \\xxxx-pc\x. Contact your network administrator to request access.

Is there a sharing option I've missed?

From what i know you should create a user password on each machine in order for them to be able to authenticate to one onother.

Wasted too long trying to get it working so I just connected my old hard drive externally.
