Well I found a used but (almost like new) Evga Gtx 780 sc acx 2.0 card for $225 on craigslist, the guy was asking $250 but I managed to talk him down to 225, so I am wondering if I pick up this 2nd card for sli is it going to be worth it? Schould I hold-off and look for something else like a 780 ti instead?

Now having 2 gtx 780s in sli to run a single 1920x1080 monitor what schould I be expecting here, its been a long time since I ran 2 video-cards! I am not to happy paying 225 to be honest but if you guys can confirm that the performance is good I will go ahead and pick it up/.Kinda worried about my psu not having enough juice/ what do you think? will a 850 get me bye until I pick-up a good 1000 watt unit?

I don't know, a single 780 is still very much capable running any game.

Better hold on till Pascal arrives in a couple of months.

He already has a single 780 signex, if you bothered to take a moment to read.

780 SLi would be great, your current CPU and PSU will hold up well.
I typically protest against multi-GPU setups, especially within the last two years or so, support can be spotty. But you are already aware of what annoyances SLi can bring seeing as you did it in the past.
If you are ok with putting up with the quirks of SLi again, I say go for it.

Personally, I would save the $225, get a 980 or 980 Ti. Or as mentioned, suffer your current card till the next generations, should have a good amount saved up by then.

I recently upgraded to SLI and had the same PSU issue (current one was a 600W) used a PSU calculator and it calculated I needed around 730W so an 850 should be plenty for you, it's what I bought and I've had no problems, my UPS monitors my wattage usage and most of the time it doesn't break 600W anyway and that's with both cards maxed out.

Uhm are you playing dumb with me lol? i knew he had a 780 already, i was saying he had no need for SLI and that he should wait till Pascal.

    Obviously.

I think you'll be fine. My entire system uses 320w max (from the wall). That's running prime95 and a heaven 4k benchmark with maxed settings at the same time. (normally it tops out at 200w during gaming)

Add another 200w to that for the second 780 and you're on 520w. So power-wise it's more than possible.

Don't know about performance. In some games it'll almost double, but you'll still have to deal with crappy frametimes or no sli support in some games.

Personally, I would save the $225 for the next generation. A single 780 is still a very capable card @1080 if you don't want to run everything @ultra in the newest games.

Kepler isnt doing well this days and 780 is low on Vram while SLI just like crossfire is a mess.

Just forget it and wait for Pascal cards.

I appricate all the feedback from you guys! .....I dont know $225 seems a bit high to me,I have seen 780 ti go for that range maybe I will hold-off until I can find a cheeper one? I paid $150 for my current Gtx 780 I would put a value on that card somewhere around 150-175 in my opinion.

The 3gb is plenty for me I only game on 1920x1080 my 2 side monitors are for browsing only, I wanted to do Surround but changed my mind I am not a big fan.

Prior to my Gtx 780 I had a 770 on a aging Fx 6300, my system was so un-balanced so instead of upgrading my gpu again I started from Scratch with a Devils canyon i7 4790k, a good Motherboard ect....At least now I have laid the groundwork for a capable gaming/Multi-tasking machine that wont be Cpu starved like I was in the past.Common mistake I see alot of people making, get a high-end Gpu with a ****ty cpu lol.:stewpid:

You wouldn't pay much more for a 970 or 390, both of which are substantially better cards. You'd be better off selling your current 780 and putting the cost towards one of them, that or just wait until the next gen cards come out.

You got a point there. I dont like selling my hardware so I might just pass it down to my kid, Put the 780 in her system.I think you know how I operate by now lol.

Not worth a 780 now. And $230 is not cheap for it!
    I would pass myself.

Wait for a $379 1070 GTX in June and enjoy 980 TI performance for half the price

New (meaning brand new from a store with 2 years warranty) gtx 970 here costs 269 euros and comes with The Division free which means the card costs around 230€ and that is BRAND NEW.

I know you live in the states and all but still, should till you of how much a gtx 780 is worth by now specially a used one. So till the guy to put it on ebay and see how much it sells for. Damn dude is a ripoff. :p

avoid multi-GPU like a plague, GTX 1080 will surely be better than those 780s.

Wait a bit, sell your current 780 when the new cards are out. The 780 is fine for the moment, not worth more investment.

I dont need the 2nd card just want it, you guys obviously know how it is with this damm hobby lol.
