Hello, I will be getting everything from memoryexpress.com It will be mainly for games and some video converting, currently settle with the cpu and case but not sure what to choose for the PSU, ram and mobo, too many brands and options and I won't be getting a GPU for now. 2133 minimum speed ram /samsung 850 pro ssd for starters.(they're cheap as chips) i could point you to a psu /mobo laters.
Hi. For video editing an SSD will help greatly or at the very least an additional HDD, you don't want to use a single drive for everything..... Hi all, my budget is around 1000 to 1200 without the GPU and HDD .I am planning to reuse my old SSD, which is a samsung 840 evo, and planning on getting the GPU later, probably just a single GPU no sli. I am not sure if I should go with a high end mobo if I am not planning on going sli or should I upgrade anyway incase I decide to reuse my old gpu for phyx some years down the line? I am also not sure which type of ram is better, but I will go with what Pill Mater has suggested. As for PSU, I am also not sure which brand/type is the best, but probably prefer to have a more future proof one just incase of sli or a new gpu in the future and filling up all the PC with 5-6 HDD
If you're into video editing consider getting a RAID mirror setup, if one drops out of the set you won't lose your data
Hi, pehaps I should have been more clear, the PC will be 90% for games and 10% for video converting. Planning on moving everything to BD-R after converting.

I agree totally. On Ivy Bridge, Haswell, Haswell Refresh (your i7-4790K) and onwards, DDR3-2133 is advantageous regardless of whether you are using your computer for video editing or anything else. I take it you are overclocking? It would be silly not to, but if you do the stock Intel cooler won't cut it.

That motherboard looks a lot better, the ram is fine too. Can u squeeze in a Hyper 212 Evo cooler? btw 8GB vram isn't going to help u with 1 GPU. Save your money and get 4GB.

I have changed the mobo to a gigabyte ga-z97x gaming 3 and ram to viper 3 series black mamba edition 2133. Need the extra pci slot and the viper ram seems to be the only 2x8 instock and doesn't go way above budget. Can someone recommend me a PSU? I most likely wont be doing sli, just a single card but might fill the pc up with 5 HDD eventually. Preferably from the same site.

Try to scale further for an X99 build. The 5820K can be had for $390, you'll have to pay more for the mobo (MSI X99 SLi Plus is $230), and slightly more for the RAM (4x4GB instead of 2x8GB). You gain a more badass platform, two more cores, and double the memory bandwidth. There are better PSUs than the one you have chosen.
