As most of you know the hd5970 is a dual gpu card and relies on a internal crossfire chip. My problem is the in radeon settings version 16.1.1 says that one of the gpus are disabled and crossfire is not a option. In gpu-z it states that crossfire is disabled and the pcie slot speed is x16@x1 2.0 on the disabled gpu. I have tried other drivers that say work with windows 10 but haven't tried anything older. I have tried re-flashing the bios on both gpus. Any ideas would be appreciated, thanks.
Try removing the drivers in safemode with DDU http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html Reboot back into normal mode for reinstalling new drivers
Reset your PCs BIOS, set it back up manually again Test the GPU in another machine Switch PCI-e slots Dual Boot / clean install Windows to rule out windows being the problem
I cant try another pci-e slot and I have done a re install of windows. Ill try and reset the bios and i will try another computer and let you know how it goes.
Got crossfire working in windows 10 using 14.3 Beta. Also have to run at 120hz/. At 144hz crossfire does not work on this card.
Cant fix the PCIE gpu 1 x1 and gpu2 x2 though. Tried everything, will have to do till get my 290 RMA back.
