    Hi all,

    I'm wondering what would be better, a Xeon E3 or an i7 4790 - i heard the Xeon is more stable for long renders etc. And what would be a good model for a similar price to the i7? I'm not really looking to overclock I don't think.

    I would really appreciate some advice.

    Thanks

    stability is mainly due to ecc ram.

    I use a lenovo thinkstation s20 with xeon W3690 paired to a nvidia Quadro 4000

    works bit faster but far more reliable than my overclocked 3770k with amd 7990

    using archicad and vray

    Xeon are higher binned cores, so aside from any other factors such as ECC buffered, a higher binned Quadro or Fire GL you'll have more stability anyway.
