Thanks for posting, have been waiting for a release build for months but this should be interesting to test.

nice, will try it soon, tho kepler GPUs are not that strong in GPGPU vs previous generations D:

It certainly does not have OpenCL encoding. It looks like OpenCL is used for cropping and scaling.

Just tried this version and it does perform better and make use of the GPU when OpenCL and UVD usage is enabled. However, it really does depend on the codec and, as mentioned in the release notes, on whether the video is being scaled.

The final quality seemed fine to me, but I need to do more testing to be sure.

    Here's some comparisons.

    1080p to 1080p x264

    Standard

    OpenCL and UVD

    1080p to 720p x264

    UVD only

    1080p x264 to 1080p mpeg

Hopefully we'll see better performance and more supported features soon.

Hmm, seems the latest nightly (as of 2/19) has some new settings:

No idea what HWD Support is. While re-encoding a video, I noticed my GPU clocks went to media clocks instead of idle.

Edit: Also take note of the warning on top of the nightly page:

Handbrake only has partial OpenCL support atm. Performance gains will only be seen if you are downscaling content, e.g. 1080p to 720p.

Assuming you have v0.99, there are two checkboxes under the "Output Settings" section. Check the one for OpenCL.

The other is for DXVA2 encoding, this feature is Windows-only and only works on sources which can be decoded via Libav.

HWD = Hardware Decode. It uses the GPU to decode the video
OpenCL is used to offload part of the encoding when downscaling the video
