sound card: creatives extreme music @ max settings.
Just like to say that AIMP v4.13 sound engine is real good.
    Take it for a spin.
or if you still prefer your existing player post it up as I would like to take it for a spin.
Oh my next favorite sound engine is with music bee.

I tried it once for few months to many things annoyed me, So I went back to Winamp with not so yasapi plugin, I heard no diffrence in my music between the 2 so I went back to what I knew and liked.

Foobar here. The add-on feature is fantastic, tons of added functionality. I used AIMP for a long time before this.

I use it mainly for local music, youtube , soundcloud and internet radio.

really? I tried both I hear no diffrence, maybe it my 15+ year olf ACS48 2.1 computers or the fact all my music is mp3 160~320kbps

Even my 300$ RS175 wireless headphones sound the same, or my maybe my ears are more screwed up from the constant ring i have in my ears then I think haha

I never listen in speakers. Only IEMs with high sensitivity, cans Denon 2000 and Beyerdynamic 770 pro (80 Ohms). And collection is mostly in FLAC. And ofc the source of improvement could be only in simple fact of skipping OS mixer.

Difference between WASAPI and DirectSound fades in comparison with Windows 7 -> Windows 8 (DS).

But you failed to notice the difference between 7 and 8, haven't you :)

I failed to understand your question, sorry. For what modes in what OSs should I failed to notice the difference?

    W7 vs W8 ?
    W7(DS) vs W8(DS) ?
    W7(WASAPI) vs W8(WASAPI) ?
    W7(DS) vs W8(WASAPI) ?
    W7(WASAPI) vs W8(DS) ?

And btw, as I understand it WASAPI is native API for audio since Vista, so even if sound goes through DirectSound final word is always after WASAPI. When we are talking about players and WASAPI we mean exclusive mode (aka bit perfect mode) of WASAPI (versus default shared mode).

    W7(DS) vs W8(DS)

Mixer, resampling was badly screwed in W7.
Its not something one could pick up easily, but its quite measurable in RMAA.

^ Yeah, that was a consensus about W7 mixer.
I did not compare DS vs WASAPI in W8/W10, but even if I will not hear the difference I still reckon WASAPI exclusive mode the better because I suspect this way less components are involved in sound path.

Sure its better. And I'd take WASAPI if it was free, but it's not. It takes exclusive control of my audio. As it should.

Although... isn't there some output mode on AIMP which is both direct and yet it doesn't mess with other audio instances?
Or maybe I am remembering it wrong...I gave up on AIMP, cos its kinda clunky :)

    Ahhh that's so 90s :p
I also clang to Winamp for as much as I could.

    Why not foobar2000?
Takes some time configuring UI, but its well developed, and much more powerful, yet very lightweight.
