I bought two and will return one. I am trying out the softmod performance on the HD4890 at the moment. Have not played much with the GTX260. Which one will give higher softmod performance on the same computer? Keep in mind I don't play game on this computer and I will softmod whichever I keep. I know currently have CPU limitation so probably won't take full advantage of the softmod anyway until I upgrade to Win 7 in near future. Thanks in advance for your input.
^ the 4890 would be better for games anyway, I'm not sure about softodding but I guess the extra Vram would help, even if itz only a little more than the 260
I just seached in the 'NVSoftQuadroX - SoftQuadro for 64 bits' thread by gellmar but cound not find a success story for the GTX260. Will continue searching and reading more... Thanks.
Based on what I think I know and have seen on these forums...NONE of the newer cards can be soft modded.
If your looking for an easy modded card then i suggest the HD3870 or a G80 8800GTS 320/640mb < think thats the one.
luuuuuuv my 4890.. and paid a good 60 bucks less than what the 260oc was going for at the time.. why do you need to softmod it? Just grab gpu tool and force a higher voltage on the gpu and you can oc it like woah
I wonder if you can softmod those cards but i have a question ,isn't it true that NVIDIA cards are considered better on GPGPU ?
GPGPU has nothing to do with viewport capabilities in a 3d aplication like 3dsmax or maya. When did people associate gpgpu with 3d apps? only just recently in the rendering department gpgpu has started to show itself, but the biggest problem is viewport performance, that is the biggest issue for a 3d artist.
